How to Install the B and W Tow and Stow 3 Ball Mount on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

We're going to show you the BMW Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount, part number BWTS10049B. Now even though a ball mount is rated for a total weight of 10,000 pounds, always check to make sure your vehicle can handle the weight that you want to pull. Also you don't want to go over the weight capacities of the hitch balls individually. The biggest feature about this is that when you're done using it if you're in the habit of leaving your ball mount on the truck, you can actually take this whole assembly and flip it around and store it underneath the hitch if you had the room. Once again we'll go ahead and remove our 2 pins here, and by the way, they're stainless steel, so they'll stay corrosion free for a very long time. We'll go ahead and pull out our pins. This also has a pin in it on both sides and it hits the stop right here, so it can't completely come all the way off. Then you just swing it back up and reinstall your pins.

All right, so in this configuration when you walk around behind your truck, you have a little bit less of a chance of banging your shins on it. We'll go ahead and measure the clearance between the bottom of the ball mount in it's lowest position down to the ground. Of course this will vary from tire sizes on the truck and suspension packages on the truck as well. We have a standard Silverado here, and we have about a measurement of 8 inches. Let's go ahead and put in a receiver hitch and take a look at it. First off, fully installed. We've got 2 hitch pin holes, so that'll give you a little bit of an adjustment for different types of hitches.

That's furthers in, furthest out. Go ahead and put a hitch pin into place to secure it. Now a hitch pin does not come with the ball mount, so probably with something like this you probably want to use your favorite locking pin. Now this ball mount comes in all 3 hitch ball sizes, inch and 7/8, 2 inch and 2 5/16. Now 2 5/16 ball is ready for 10,000 pounds, however it doesn't apply to the other 2 sizes. Your inch and 7/8 will be 3,500 pounds, and then a 2 inch will be ready for 7,500 pounds. Now when we need to change ball sizes, pretty simple.

We just go ahead and remove this pin right here. We've got a clip on one side, take out the pin. This doesn't come out, so you spin it to whatever side you want. Once we've made our selection, we'll go ahead and reinstall the pin. You notice just using that one pin there's 2 holes.

Depending on the ball you use, it has a different hole. Made our selection, now we're going to put our clip back into place. Now you see with our ball mount, we can go ahead and raise it up and down, or this long section here we can actually flip it over if we have enough clamps to use it in a rise position as well. Let's go ahead and pull out our hitch pin. Let's take the whole assembly, pull it out and flip it over. This is where the extra hole may come in handy to make sure you have enough room. We can't put it all the way back in, so we'll go ahead and use the other hitch pin hole Now to make our height adjustment, we'll go ahead and pull out our clips and hold the ball mount and we'll go ahead and pull out the pins. Probably don't have to pull them all the way, but just enough where you can run it up and down. Get your height adjustment, depending on how tall your trailer is and then put your pins back in. Now the actual rise measurement is going to be about 7 1/2 inches, means from the top receiver opening to about the base of the ball right here. 7 1/2 inches, and it comes out to approximately right here. Let's go ahead and flip our ball mount back over and we'll go ahead and get our drop measurement. This will be from top of the receiver opening down to here, which is about the same height of the bottom of the ball, and it'll be about 7 inches. That'll finish it for the BMW Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount, part number BWTS10049B. .
