How to Install the Air Lifr AirCell Custom Helper Springs Kit on a 1999 Ford F-250

Today, on our 1999 Ford F 250, we'll be installing the Air Lift Air Cell Custom Helper Springs, Part Number Al52215. Note, we've already gone ahead and lowered and removed the spare tire to make it easier to access the manufacturer's bump stops. These bump stops are bolted to the frame, one on each side. Noting that each process we do on one side, will get repeated identically on the opposite side. Starting on the driver side, we'll go ahead and spray the bump stop bolt with some spray lubricant because over time it's going to build up with rust, dust, dirt, and debris and can be very difficult to remove the manufacture's hardware over time. Next, we'll go ahead and start removing the nut from the stud. Note, in extreme cases it may be necessary to physically cut the stud from the frame. Now that we've got the stud cut, we're going to go ahead and use our pry bar to break the stud and remove it completely.

Now we can remove the manufacturer's hardware which would be the nut, stud, metal bracket and bump stop. The air cell kit comes with multiple adjustments. For our installation purposes, we'll be using the bracket, 2 optional spacers, the cup and spring, along with the attachment hardware. Note, if you will not be using the optional spacers, we'll use the smaller fastener to secure the spring to the upper bracket. To install the spring into the cup, we'll use some spray grease or you can also use some warm, soapy water. We'll spray it around the top of the spring and then push it into the cup.

Once it's push into the cup, it will lock in place. To secure the spring, cup and spacers to bracket, we're going to be using the long bolt and flat washer going up through the spring, through the cup, through the spacers and then bolt into the upper bracket. We'll go ahead and take our spring assembly over to the vehicle and line it up with the appropriate pre-drilled hole in the upper bracket. For this application, it will be the rear, pre-drilled hole so it will line up with the manufacturer's lower jaw stop, located just above the axle. Then we'll go ahead and tighten it down. Now that we've got it tightened down, we're ready to go ahead and repeat the same process on the opposite side.

Now, with both sides done, this will complete the install of the Air Lift Air Cell Helper Spring Kit, Part Number Al52215 on our 1999 Ford F 250. .
