How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on this 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan we will be installing hitch part number 36455 from Draw-Tite. This hitch application also applies to Hidden Hitch part number 90169. The first thing you want to do is get underneath the vehicle and lower the exhaust off its rear most hanger here on the passenger side. To remove it off of its hanger you want to just spray the stud here down with a spray lubricant like a WD-40. And then we can just use a crowbar and kind of get behind there to pry it off. And with the exhaust off of its hanger you can kind of pull it out of the way here. With the exhaust pulled out of the way you can see we have two existing bolts here in the frame. Those are going to provide our two attaching points for our trailer hitch on both sides of the vehicle.

What we are going to do is remove both bolts from the frame and we are actually going to reuse those for our hitch installation. Okay now that we have the bolts removed we can go ahead and put the hitch into position. Again we are going to be reusing the bolts we just took out of the frame to install the trailer hitch. You want to make sure here on the passenger side that you avoid the air conditioning lines that are at the bottom of the frame. The hitch may need to slide underneath that just a little bit. Okay now we are going to go through and torque the bolts down. You want to check with the directions to verify the appropriate torque rating for each individual bolt. You just want to re-install the exhaust back up on its hangers. This will conclude the installation of Draw-Tite part number 36455 on a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan.
