Best 2015 Kia Sedona Hitch Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options available for the 2015 Kia Sedona. The most popular is going to be the Curt, part number C13115. This is a class 2 hitch with a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening. The second and third most popular are carbon copies of one another. We've got draw tight on top, our draw tight is part number 75894 and the hidden hitch part number 87658. The only real difference is that we're going to notice, first is going to be on the collar around the receiver tube opening, the Curt's nice and flush.

It's nice and flat. With the draw tight or the hidden hitch it's got a little bit more of a rounded edge to it. That's going to be more of a preference thing, if you like this style or that style better. The pin holes themselves, in the Curt we have a single pin hole, 5/8ths of an inch in diameter. It's for use with any of the class 3 accessories. Whereas when we move into the hidden hitch or the draw tight, we're going to have the same larger pin hole, the 5/8ths diameter pin hole.

That works out good with any of the class 3 accessories. It's also got a second smaller hole if we use the j pin stabilization system. Another difference that we noticed is the welded bracket that's on the draw tight and on the hidden hitch. This is going to have 3 pre-drilled holes and that allows for mounting our wiring if we decide to go that route. If we go with the Curt, if we want an exterior mount, or have our wiring mounted on the bracket, that's something that we'd have to pick up. These are all class 3 hitches, so we've got our 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening.

The hitches are pretty visible all the way across the vehicle, which you'll see in the pictures. You're going to see the cross tube. They go up to already existing weld nuts in the flame, so it's a really easy hitch to put in no matter which one you pick. They share in common a weight rating. Their tongue weight is 400 pounds, the maximum downward force we can put here in a receiver tube opening. Also a gross trailer weight of 4000 pounds.

That's the total of our trailer and anything we've got loaded up on it. They do all have a weight distribution rating as well, it's the same as the non weight distribution rating, but we can use these hitches with the weight distribution set up. Of course we do need to look into the Kia's owners manual and see what it's rated for, we'll just go off of whichever of those numbers are the lowest. Our safety chain connection points, a nice, large safety chain connection points, very similar all the way across the board, so there's not going to be any kind of a difference there. Here's what our Curt's going to look like installed in the vehicle, now the draw tight and hidden hitch are going to look almost identical with the exception of those few differences that we had talked about. A couple measurements that will be good to know is from the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening down to the ground, we've got about 11 and a quarter inches on all 3 hitches. Then from the center of our main hitch pin hole, through the outer most edge of our bumper, we're going to have about 5 on each one. A few of the helpful factors, or deciding factors would be, one, do you want your wiring mounted outside of your vehicle If you're going to be mounting it outside of your vehicle, you might want to use the draw tight or the hidden hitch so you have that bracket on there. If you like the flat look of the Curt, maybe the Curt's going to be the better option for you. Or if you don't have brand loyalty to one, or if you're not too concerned with whether it's got the flat front or the rolled front on it. Or whether it's got the wiring bracket, probably base your decision off which one's going to be the most cost effective. Now that we've had a good look at the differences in hitches available for the Kia Sedona, we hope it will be helpful in making your buying decision.Video: Expert service. Lowest prices.
