Today on this 2006 Toyota Highlander, we are going to install part number 118248. First off we are going to have to get inside the vehicle. We will open up the hatch. We will start taking apart the floor components. Just roll this back. Flip this forward and this tray needs to come out. There are two rivets for the floor here. Take this out of the way. Next we are going to take this threshold off. We will pop this little rivet right here out. One on each side. And this component comes off and now you need to take this little tray out. There is another rivet right here we have to take out. And there is two nuts on the bottom of the tray that have to come out also.
This is the connector right here that we need to plug into and it has got this covering wrapped around it so you need to uncover it to find it. It does help if you pull apart the covering here and there it is. All right you want to connect your plug right into that and then we will ground it using this existing body here. The ground. And everything will just basically hide behind here. And then our wiring harness will just stay in the tray when it is not being used. And then we will take our converter box and hide it in this cavity right here. We will go ahead and put everything back together. We will leave our wire loom over the top of it from there we will move it to the front to install our fuse. Next what we are going to have to do is add a fuse to the fuse box for a towing circuit.
What is going to happen is we are going to take off this cover here to get to it. This is the fuse box we are looking for right here. And the actual lid tells you where the towing circuit is. Which is basically right next to the bigger fuses here and its the sixth one down. All right, pop in the fuse and we will go ahead and test our wiring. Our wire harness like we stated before will be kept under here or you can keep it in this tray too. It does not matter how we have it routed it just depends on how you like it. But either way, when you need to use it, just pull it out and we just pull it outside. Our door is so thick it will not smash the wire when you shut the door. We will just pull out what we need down to our trailer hitch. And with that that finishes our install part number 118248 from Tow Ready.
