How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2009 Saturn Outlook

Today on this 2009 Saturn Outlook we are going to install 118434 from Tow Ready. The first thing we need to do is open up the rear hatch and get access to the tail lights. Now we need to remove the tail light itself, so we are going to remove these two covers, and the screws are behind the covers. Then we can pop off the light. Then we can disconnect the light from the vehicle. This latch right here will pull down. We have the driver side tail light removed, lets go to the passenger side and repeat the same process. :36

We are back over on the driver side again, we are going to start routing the harness. First off, you want to take the T-connector, the one half of it with the green wire and put it between the body work and the bumper cover. We are going to it straight down where it comes out the vehicle. Now we are going to do the same thing again with the 4-pole flat. We will take the one half of the T-connector and plug it back into the factory harness until it snaps. Next take a ground screw and attach it to the sheet metal right here. 1:10

At this point we can go ahead and reattach our tail light. It snaps in. Next we are going to take our T-connector that goes to the passenger side and route it to the other side of the vehicle anyway we can, just try and keep away from anything that is hot like the exhaust. We will just run it to the other side for now. Then we will run our 4-pole to our receiver hitch. Just loop it up and over. For now we will just tie off on our tow loop. Then we will zip tie our excess up and out of the way. To pull our harness back up to this passenger light, we are going to run our wire straight down and use it to pulll it on through. Then we will pull our wire up, we do not have it super tight, just enough to take up the slack, make sure it is not touching the exhaust or anything like that. Then we will zip tie it to the wire harness. Just like the driver side lets snap our T-One harness into the factory harness. Then reinstall our light. With that, that would conclude our basic install of our wiring harness, but wait, there is more! 2:46

Next we are going to install part number 118144 from Tow Ready. This bracket is going to bolt directly to the tab on the hitch. Our 4-pole harness is going to simply snap into place on the bracket. To help pull it through, you may want to grip it with a pair of pliers and just pull it on through. We will use the supplied hardware to attach it to the hitch. There you have it for part number118434 from Tow Ready.
