Today on this 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty we are going to install Timbren suspension enhancement system part number TDR2500CA from Timbren. The first thing we want to do is get the truck in the air. Basically we want to loosen the suspension up so that it hangs freely so it is easier to work with. First we will remove the back wheel so we can get to everything a lot easier. The first thing we need to do is remove the factory bump stop right here. There is two bolts here and here. It is a good idea to spray some lubricant on them to help break them loose and remove this whole assembly. This piece will be removed and stay off. We will keep the original factory hardware though. 00:46
We will show you some of the components of the Timbren suspension enhancement system. This is the actual spring itself that makes contact when you hit the overload situation. This is the spacer that goes on top of that to adjust the right height of the spring. This is optional, you can use it or you do not have to. This is the bracket that gets installed on to the frame of the truck itself. These two bolts here are the hardware that attach everything together. You will use the long bolt if you are going to use the spacer, this, or if you are not going to use the spacer you will use the short bolt. Just to give you an idea of the difference between the stop and rubber spring. There is a little difference here to show you what is going on. 01:22
Lets get started. We are going to do some pre assembly first. What we are actually going to do is install this spring about the spacer. We did the other side already and found out that we do not need the spacer. The only reason why is that when we put everything together with the spacer there is hardly any room between the axle and the spring itself. Ideally you want to have about one inch of space between the two when your truck is unloaded. Otherwise it could ride a little bit rougher. That means we are going to use the short bolt and just a bracket. Inside there is a little washer that we are going to thread our bolt through. Just put it on the end of the socket and push it on through. We will put our bracket on top and this is marked left and this is going towards the front of the vehicle. We are just going to thread these two together. Get them hand tight, maybe 1/ 4 turn then after that. We will hold everything together. There is two slots for the hardware. We are going to start one bolt here. Get is started and slide it over and we will work on the other one. We have got a little adjustment to help fine tune where it hits on the axle. I think in this case we are going to pull all the way towards the front and just tighten it down. On the back one it is kind of limited access. You are going to have to go a little bit at a time. When tightening the bolt down get it to where it is snug, probably 1/ 8 of a turn more will be just fine. We have the Timbren component already installed, it is pretty easy to do. Lets put the wheel back on, lower it, and check for clearance with the axle. You can see here we have got about maybe a little over an inch of clearance and that will work just fine. With that, that will finish our install of part number TDR2500CA from Timbren on this 2007 Dodge Ram 2500.
