etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums - Idler Hub Assembly - AKIHUB547535ZK Review

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the trailer idler hub assembly. This works for your 3,500 pound axles that have a 5" on 4.75" bolt pattern. So this gives you everything you need to replace that idler hub assembly and get a new one on there. It's a good idea to get one for either side so that they we're the same and you don't have to worry about one wearing unevenly from the other. So it's a good idea to get two per axle that you're going to be putting this on.

So let's take a closer look at it and make sure it's the right fit for your application. Again, it is meant for a 3,500 pound axle, or a 3,500 pound axle, with the number 84 spindle. It's compatible with any kind of standard axle from most manufacturers including AxleTech, Dexter Lippert or LCI, and ALKO.Has the idler learned itself. The races are already installed, so that's one thing you don't have to worry about installing yourself. Same on the outside there.

We'll have the bearings to fit in place. So the smaller bearing goes on the outside, slightly larger bearing goes on the inside. Those will help that axle to move freely and easily and keep the friction to a minimum there. You want to be sure to properly grease these before you put them in place, so you want to pack those full of grease. We do have some options as far as different greases here at etrailer.com, so if you don't have any or you need a restock, we should have you covered when it comes to that.

We'll also have our grease seal for the inside and the grease cap for the outside. Whenever you're putting this in place, you'll want to use maybe a block of wood or something flat and a mallet to tap that in all the way around so that it gets a nice solid seat into that idler hub. That's going to help to keep that grease from getting out and slinging out over your wheels. Comes with new lug nuts as well to go on our stubs there. Again, this works with a bolt pattern of 5" on 4.75". So that's if you measure from the center of one bolt directly to the center of the other side between the next two bolts there.

Will fit with wheel sizes between 14" to 15". The wheel stud dimensions is a 0.5" diameter and 1.3125" Long. Grease cap flange diameter is 1.988". Capacity for just a single idler hub is 1,750 pounds, so if you get both of these it works for that 3,500 pound axle.It is covered by a one-year limited warranty. It is QAI and CSA-certified. And that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the trailer idler hub assembly for your 3,500 pound axle. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right kit for you. We do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com, including axles, grease, and all kinds of other stuff. So if you need anything else for your trailer, check us out. Thanks for watching.
