Review of Vision X Lights XIL-S1160

Today we're going to review part number XIL-S1160. This is the Vision X 10 watt LED Solstice Solo Pod Light, 2" x 2". This part number includes the light itself, the mounting bracket and hardware, the adapter bracket for the Omni-Link interlocking system and hardware, the Allen screw to tighten it down and also the triple-sealed Deutsch connector. This is an LED pod light which produces a bright flood beam. It's a very compact, light weight design, great for tight spaces. The beam is an extra wide 60 degree flood beam which is ideal for low-speed, off-road driving and industrial applications. This does give superior light output.

It uses a single 10 watt LED to produce a super bright light. It also gives you maximum efficiency with minimal heat. The premium LED has a 50,000 hour life span which is driven to 90 percent of light-emitting potential. It does use the electronic thermal management, or ETM technology. This allows for your highest potential light output at all times. The very back of the light, right back here, you can see it is a channeled fin to let the heat quickly dissipate.

It is a durable, weather-resistance construction. It has a nice rugged black powder coated aluminum housing, very lightweight and rust proof. The mounting bracket uses the high-tensile stainless steel hardware which will help withstand vibration. Also on this light is an impact resistant polycarbonate lens, which is scratch-resistant coated. A very easy installation with these included components. They also have multiple mounting options we do sell separately as a related product on this product page that you can mount at the handlebars, helmets, round tubing and again those are all sold separately. This one includes a universal single bolt, right down here, pedestal style bracket provides a sturdy mounting base and let's you adjust the angle.

The neat thing about it is you can either mount it on either side. You can see there's a slot on each of the four sides. What you'll do, you see this will match up to the slidings, so you just slide that right into there. Take your bolt, put it in there, tighten it down with the Allen wrench and then you have it attached to that side. Now when you mount this you can see you can adjust it either way.

Again this bracket could be on either of the four sides. Another neat little feature is the Omni-Link interlocking system which will let you attach multiple LED pod lights together, again each side has the slot. It uses, just like the mounting bracket, the same slot. This little bracket here, again you would just slide it in, take your bolt, drop it into the hole, tighten it down, then you have that bracket on there and that'll allow you to slide another pod light on there, put the screw in and tighten it down. You can put many out that way and with it on all of them you can add them on this way and this way. It's a very neat feature, Omni-Link interlocking system. It also has this pigtail wiring harness which is your industry standard triple sealed Deutsch connector. I'm going to show you how this goes on. Basically what's nice about this is it's a pigtail, so you have a black wire and a red wire. Black is for ground, red is for your power. When you go to plug this in you just line it up, the top with the slot there. As you push it in it's very snug, you can feel the snug fit. As you push it all the way up top here it'll click and lock into place. That triple seal in there will keep any elements from getting to your connection points so it's a weather proof connector. This is for a quantity of one light with one diode. It's a 10 watt diode. The power draw on this light is .83 amps. Input voltage is 9 volts - 48 volts DC. It has a limited life time warranty. The light output on this, the effective lumen output is 736 lumens. The raw lumen output is 1,052. The beam when this is turned on is an extra wide 60 degree flood. Again just to show you the dimensions we mentioned, is 2" x 2" and the depth front to back is 2-1/2". What I am going to do, I left this Deutsch connector in because I'm going to connect this to a 12V power supply to give you an idea the brightness of this 10 watt LED. We'll go ahead and take the black wire, hook it to our ground, here we go, I'll take the red, hook it to our power. Now we'll go ahead and turn off the overhead light, turn on our 12V power and you can see how bright that 10 watt LED is. You can see the pattern gives off is an extra wide 60 degree flood beam. This is just for one. As I mentioned with that Omni-locking system you can actually put as many as you want together on top just like that. I'll go ahead and turn off our 12V power, and go ahead and turn on our overhead light. That should do it for the review on part number XIL-S1160, the Vision X 10 watt LED Solstice Solo Pod Light, 2" x 2". .
