Review of Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118482

Today, we're going to be taking a look at part #118482. This is the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector. This unit is going to fit certain years and models of the Toyota Avalon, Venza, and Camry. It's also going to fit certain years and models of the Mitsubishi Outlander. It's going to provide your 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle. That's going to help power your trailer signal lights.

It is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately. The benefit of this system is it's going to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection points in your rear cargo area. Then you're going to have 2 sets of T-connectors. The side with the green and red wires is going to run to the passenger side of your vehicle, that why it's got a little more wiring, and then the side with the yellow and brown wiring, that's going to run to the driver's side of the vehicle.

The plugs on these T-connectors are going to match up perfectly with the connection points on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock into one another for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have that done, you're going to need to make your ground connection, that the white wire right here with the ring terminal attached to it. You can do that to a nice, clean metal surface using the included self-tapping screw. Then you're going to need the run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. Hot leads are going to be the red wire right here. That's going to connect to the bundle of black wire with one of the including butt connectors.

The other end of the black wire's going to run all the way up to the vehicle battery, and it's going to get a butt connector attached to it and connect to half of the fuse holder. The fuse holder's going to have to be cut right there, and one end's going to connect to the bundle of black wire with the butt connector. The other end's going to get the ring terminal attached to it, and that going to attach to the positive post on the vehicle battery. They're going to include some cable ties that way you can secure any excess wires up and out of the way. They're also going to include some double-sided adhesive tape that way you can mount the module light. This product does include the module light to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's.

The powered module's going to connect directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. You're also going to get your 10 amp fuse. It goes right there in the fuse holder, and then the fuse holder has a nice protective cap to close that off. Here on the 4-way flat side, we're going to have a bundle of wiring that way we can extend this out the back of our vehicle and make the connection as needed. It's going to be constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire, and it's going to come with the dust cap for the connector that way we keep this connection point safe when our plug's not being used. Now when it comes to the maximum amperage for this system, for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit, but for the taillights, we're looking at 5.6 amps per circuit. It's going to come with very detailed instructions, these are going to walk you through the installation process step-by-step, and we're going to recommend that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections, like the plugs on your vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That's going to help keep out any type of corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part #118482. This is the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector.
