TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Rear Tie-Downs - TL84FR Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the TorkLift custom rear frame mounted camper tie-downs. Now these are a custom fit part. They are designed to fit the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3,500 Double Cab and Crew Cab trucks with the dual rear wheels, eight foot bed, and without the board or the step underneath the truck bed but with the factory hitch. Now on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle.

And it'll show you if this'll work for your application. Now these tie-downs will provide the attachment points at the rear of your truck for securing your bed mounted camper on your vehicle. The front tie-downs we do sell separately. One tie down will go on the driver's side, one on the passenger side. And the two holes right here that are on the tie-down inserts, they allow you to connect your turnbuckles from your camper to your truck and not interfere with anything on your vehicle. Also on the shank of the insert, if I pull the pin and clip out here.

I just want to show you there's two holes at different lengths, so it allows you to fit different width campers. So in other words, if you have a narrower camper, you can use the first hole. And then if you have a wider camper, you could extend it out to the next hole and then put your pin in there. So it'll fit different width of campers. Now, when you do install these you'll feel a dramatic improvement with the vehicle handling and the stability.

And it is the safest way to haul a truck camper. Prevents any vehicle sway and camper movement in all directions. You'll be able to haul your truck camper confidently by attaching these tie-downs to the strongest part of the truck, which is the frame. And most vehicle manufacturers do recommend that a full height sliding camper body should be directly attached to the vehicle frame structure. The frame mounted design on this ensures excellent handling by securing the camper to the truck's base instead of just the bed. Which will better distribute the weight.

Keep the setup from being too top heavy. It will also help avoid any bed or bumper damage that's common with other tie-down systems. Now this is a fast no-drill installation. Securing your truck camper to your truck, maintains the value of your truck and prevents rusted bed damage by avoiding any drilling into your truck, bed or bumper. And these are custom fit for your vehicle. Driver's side, passenger side brackets. These brackets will fit tight to the truck frame. There's no loss of ground clearance. So it is also perfect for off-road truck camping. And what's nice about these is when they're not used, you can take the inserts out. And these brackets here will be underneath the truck virtually undetectable when they're not in use.And then when you're ready to hook your camper to your turnbuckles, you need to slide this in, put it at the correct hole you need. And then put your pin and clip in. The hidden design of the brackets will return your truck to its original look when not being used as tie-downs. These are a steel construction with a nice black powder coat finish for durability. Does include everything laid out here on the table. The two rear tie-down inserts, the two frame brackets, all the necessary hardware to install it and a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how this installs. And these parts are made in the USA.But again, just to show you, if you need a hole for a wider one, there's a hole there you can put it through. It's a little bit narrower. Just line the hole up, take your pin, once you get the hole lined up, slide it all the way through to the other side. Clip it and that'll hold it into place. And then you just took your turn buckles right to the holes up there. But that should do it for the review on the TorkLift custom rear frame mounted camper tie-downs.
