Review of Titan Trailer Coupler T2492800

Today were going to review part number T2492800. This is the Titan Zinc-Plated A-frame Brake Actuator for Drum Brakes. This is an easily adjustable coupler with a corrosion resistant surge type brake actuator that will fit 1-7/8-inch, 2-inch, and 50-mm hitch balls. It has a unique roller design, which will help reduce resistance. The A-frame actuator will weld on to your trailer. The hydraulic actuator will synchronize your trailer brakes with the tow vehicle brakes.

Right here it has a unique roller design, which will allow this inner tube to go back and forth or telescope to create straight-line movement when braking. It is a sturdy durable steel construction, which will resist bending and jack knife situations. Again, it has a multi-fit ball design, which will adjust to fit 1-7/8-inch, 2-inch, and 50-mm hitch balls. It uses this hand wheel to tighten the head around the ball. Basically, theres a little lever that if you push down you can rotate it counterclockwise.

Basically, what that does, Ill show you underneath. As you rotate it, it will lower this latch, which will allow you to hook up over the trailer hitch ball. Then once youre secured with the ball in there, you can just tighten it down, once you release the lever right here, you can just leave that up, and then as you tighten it clockwise it will just tighten that wedge latch around the hitch ball. It does have a breakaway kit which is this part right here. That is included.

This will hook up to your tow vehicle and by chance if the trailer does happen to come lose it would pull this lever, which would actuate the brakes and stop the trailer. It does have a zinc plating which will provide corrosion resistance. Again, it is an A-frame as you can see right here. It is a weld on installation. This is designed for hydraulic drum brakes.

Basically, again, Ill turn it upside down and youll be able to see in the back here is the master cylinder. On the very back is your connection to your brake lines. Then right on, top here would be the cap for your master cylinder fluid, brake fluid to go in there. Again, it fits a ball size of 1-7/8-inch, 2-inch, and 50 mm. Some adjustment may be required. The capacity on this is 6000 pounds. It has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 600 lbs and it does come with a one-year warranty. Basically, the way this would work is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle itll cause everything to decelerate and that momentum will push your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With this surge, brake system the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows down. Then when that actuator telescopes, it applies force on this here, telescopes back, it applies force to the master cylinder, which in turn supplies a hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer brakes. Now this model does not include a reverse lock out which means that when you go in reverse and try to back up there is no lock out that will allow the brakes to be released. They do recommend to use a trailer with free backing brakes when you use this actuator. This part does come with a one-year warranty. Again, that should do it for our review part number T2492800.
