Review of Titan Trailer Brakes T4423500

Today we are going to review part number T4423500. This is the ten-inch Titan Alpha right free backing hydraulic trailer brake assembly for the left hand side. This is drum brake assembly, which will provide superior protection from corrosion and it will let you reverse without actuating because of the free backing. This is designed for use with hydraulic brake actuators that do not include reverse lockouts. This will fit most 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch wheels. This assembly does have alpha right plating, which deliver superior corrosion protection.

The backing plate in the shoe levers are sealed with a permanently bonded electric coated primer and theres a second coat of rugged acrylic thats applied to the backing plate, which makes it nearly rust proof. The wheel, I hear are treated with a hot black oxide. The internal components are zinc plated and it uses stainless steel springs. I mentioned this is a free backing design and what that does, that will allow you to reverse the trailer without the brakes being activated and the easy way to tell if its a free backing design is usually the smaller shoe will have a D design to it and this is the left hand brake assembly which is the driver side assembly and the way you can tell that is the smaller shoe will always be towards the front of the trailer. And the larger shoe will be towards the rear of the trailer.

The way to measure this its a ten inch by 2-1/4 inch brake assembly. The diameter of the brakes would be ten inches and the width of the shoe will be 2-1/4. This does, the center hole diameter is three inches. This does use the four-hole mounting flange bolt pattern and the distance between the holes 2-7/8 inches in both ways. This brake assembly when mated with the right hand side will give you a capacity up to 3,750 pounds for the pair.

This does come with a one-year warranty a two-year corrosion warranty. And briefly again just to mention about the free backing system, what that does is that it will let your trailer move in reverse without actuating the brakes. What happens is when you begin backing up, the brake shoes are firmly against the drum as in any braking situation. As you continue in reverse however, the shoes will turn with the drum until the lining pressure is released and you are be able to back freely and that should do it for part number T4423500.
