Review of Titan 12" Left Hand Hydraulic Trailer Brakes

Today we're looking at the Titan hydraulic brake assembly part number t4202900. This assembly is setup for the left hand side. The way we can tell this is by looking at the brake shoe lining. The forward shoe is going to setup smaller than the rear or primary shoe. This assembly is a single servo system which means it has one wheel cylinder and one wheel cylinder piston that pushes out against the forward brake shoe lining creating a wedge effect inside the brake drum. Our initial setup we use the star wheel adjuster to adjust the brake shoes out to the brake drum creating a light drag and then as the brake shoe linings wear, we can remove the grommet in the backing plate to continuously adjust the star wheel keeping the nice even braking.

Our setup bolts on a 5 bolt flange setup which is already pre drilled into the backing plate to sit on top of your 5 bolt studded flange on your axle. To measure our brake assembly take our tape and go across the brake shoe linings, we have a 12 inch by 2 inch brake shoes. So this assembly will fit a 12 inch by 2 inch hub drum assembly. When we couple the left hand side with the right hand side we can create up to 6000 pounds in braking capacity. This setup also has a fall away brake system which means there will be minimal drag when backing up making it a good application for trailers with braking couplers.

This assembly comes with a one year warranty and there you have it for the Titan 12 inch hydraulic brake assembly part number t4202900.
