Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 118792 Review

Today we're taking a look at a T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits certain years of the Volvo XE-40. To ensure that it's a fit for your vehicle you can use the vehicle fit guide located at etrailer.com. This unit provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately and it comes with a dust cap for the 4-way flat connector that way you can cover up the connection points whenever your plug is not being used. All the wiring runs to this black box.

This is the included module light power converter. It ensures that your vehicles wiring matches that of your trailers. The powered module connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicles electrical system. Now this is designed to connect quickly and easily. All you need to do is located the connection points behind your tail lights and then plug in your T-connectors.

These are custom fit for your vehicle so they're going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle and they snap and lock together for a nice tight secure fit.The connector with the yellow wire goes to the driver's side of the vehicle. The connector with the red and green wiring goes to the passenger side of the vehicle. Once you have those connected you'll need to make a ground connection, that's your white wire, it has a ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location and you can use the included grounding screw to accomplish this. Then you'll need to mount the converter box to a safe out-of-the-way location.

You can do that with the included cable tied as well as the double sided adhesive foam tape included in the kit. Then you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is a short black wire coming out of the box. It gets connected to one end of the bundle of wiring with the included butt connector, the other end of the bundle gets connected to one half of the fuse holder with another butt connector and then the other half of the fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It does come with your 15 amp fuse, it goes directly in the fuse holder. It's got the cap that goes over to keep it safe and protected. And you will need to cut this fuse holder in half right here and then expose some of the wiring in order to connect your butt connector and the ring terminal to it.

Once you have that done you can secure any excess wiring with the included cable ties, right here. Once your install is complete the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area. You have plenty of wiring here, that way you can extend it out the back of the vehicle when you need to use it and then roll it up and tuck it away when it's not in use.It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. It's sold separately and available at etrailer.com. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights we're looking at 5 amps per circuit and for the taillights we're looking at 7.5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.
