Review of Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118696

Today we're going to be taking a look at T1 vehicle wiring harness with the four-pull flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years of the Chevrolet Cruze. To see if this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the Vehicle Fit Guide located at etrailer.com. This unit is going to provide a four-way flat trailer connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with five-pull, six-pull and seven-pull adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with a dust cap for the four-way flat connector.

That way you can cover up the connection points when the plug's not being used. The black box right here, this is the included module light. This is a power module that connects directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring. That is going to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. Now the unit is going to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection points in the rear cargo area. One of these connector is going to go to the driver's side.

The other is going to go to the passenger side. This is custom fit so the plugs on the harness are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. They're going to snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit. Once you have those connected you can then make a good ground connection. That's going to be a white wire.

It has a ring terminal already attached to it. You want to get that grounded in a nice clean metal surface with the included grounding screw. Then you want to mount the converter box. It's going to come with some double-sided adhesive tape so you can get the box mounted to a nice clean out of the way location. Then you can secure that in place. The next thing you'll want to do is, if you notice that you have any wires, any slack or excess in the wires, you can go ahead and secure those with the cable ties.

Then you'll need to connect your hot lead. This is going to run to the vehicle battery. This is going to get connected to the bundle of black wire with one of the included butt connectors. The other end of the wire runs to the vehicle battery, gets another butt connector attached to it and is going to connect to one-half of the fuse holder. You'll need to cut that in half. Then the other half of the fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and it gets attached to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It does come with your 15 amp fuse. It goes directly in here then it's got the fuse cap to keep that safe and protected. Now, once you have that done, again, you want to use the cable ties provided with the kit to secure any excess or slack in the wiring. Once your installation is complete, the four-way connectors are going to be stored in your rear cargo area. There's plenty of wiring here. That way you can extend that out the back of the vehicle when you're needing to use it. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease on your electrical connections, some dielectric grease. You want to use that on the plugs on the vehicle and the four-pull connector itself. It is sold separately but it is available here at etrailer.com, and that grease is simply going to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. When it comes to your maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 4.2 amps per circuit. For the taillights we're looking at 7.5 amps per circuit. That's going to do it for today's look at the T1 vehicle wiring harness with the four-pull flat trailer connector.
