Review of Stromberg Carlson RV Stairs and Steps SMFP-3200L

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Flexco manual pull-out steps for RVs. This is going to be manually operated. The RV step system is going to make it easy to get into and out of your motorhome or what ever application you're wanting to put this on. As you can see right now, I have it in the fully usable position, but I do want to show you how to get it to this position. In order to do that, I'm going to go ahead and fold it back up. You take the bottom step, it goes on top of that one. This system folds in; right here in the middle you just fold up and it slides into that stowed position. When you're ready to use them, you want to make sure that this lever right here is in the unlocked position.

That's going to be just like that. That's really nice that it has a locked and an unlocked position, so when it's not being used or when you're traveling you can make sure that's locked so those don't accidentally come out. When you're ready to pull them out you move the lever up to the unlocked position, grab right here, pull it out, and then do that same thing again, and then you just fold these two out. Very simple, very easy to use. Each step is going to feature a nice non-slip surface with the oval tread holes. That's going to provide better footing.

It also allows dirt and moisture to fall through the step so it doesn't collect on the surface of the step. Located at the front of each step on that front edge we're looking at an inch and a half wide strip of grip tape on the edge, that's going to offer additional traction to the unit. It's an easy bolt-on or weld-on installation. It's going to mount to the RV frame in the same way as your original steps. It may require outriggers for installation depending on your application.

Those would be sold separately but it does have the areas right here to get those attached if needed. When it comes to the step dimensions, we're just going to go over some basic measurements real quick. Starting with the overall width, they're all going to measure the same 24" wide. They're all going to offer a depth of about 9" deep. When it comes to the mounting base dimensions, this is our mounting base up here. If we go edge to edge of this area we can see that that's going to give us a measurement of 27" wide.

Then these arms, they're going to give us a depth, just here at the top, of 9-3/4" deep. When it comes to the bolt hole pattern: we're going to have two holes right here, one hole right here. Same thing on the other side. From side to side those holes are separated on center by 25-3/8" right around that area. From this hole to the hole, center on center it's going to be about 5-1/2". Then from this hole to this hole is going to be about 7" deep. Now when we're talking about the drop and rise, that's simply the distance between each platform, so going from this one to this one. Top of that step to top of the other one, we're looking at 9-1/2". Same thing on this one, about 9-1/2". Then from the top of that mounting arm to the top of this surface, that's going to give us a measurement of about 4-1/2" from here to here. The unit is going to offer a weight capacity of 350 pounds. I'm going to go ahead and put it back in the fully folded position, and we'll take some measurements of it in that position as well. Measuring from edge to edge it's going to give us a measurement of 12". Bottom to top, fully folded that's going to measure pretty close to 16-3/4" right around that mark. To be more exact, maybe 16-13/16", right in that area. That's going to do it for today's look at the Flexco manual pull-out steps for RVs.
