SeaSucker Marine Boat Accessories - Fishing Rod Holder - 302-MF5083 Review

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at the SeaSucker Pro Series Rod Holder. This is going to be a great way to hold your fishing rods when you're out on your boat, to keep them safe and secure while you attend to other things, and also you can use it as an easy way to bait your line so that you don't have to fumble with everything all at once. We'll be able to hold three rods at once, and the way that this works is this heavy duty vacuum cup at the back. Now, I know that some of you are probably thinking, "A suction cup, that's not really going to hold anything very securely."But that's kind of SeaSucker's claim to fame, is that they have these vacuum cups that are actually going to pump the air out of the surface here. So whenever we put this up against a flat non porous surface, like metal or fiberglass or something like that, we can use this plunger down at the bottom, and that's going to push the air out through this little hole here, and it's going to create a nice tight vacuum seal against any of those flat surfaces. So if you want to put this on your gunwales, on the sidewalls of your boat, maybe on the side of your car, really anywhere that you could think of that would have that sort of surface that you can attach this to, you just stick it on, you want to make sure that it's a little bit moist to help it get a good grip, and then just pump the air out until this little orange tab, or the orange stripe, is no longer visible. Once that's fully depressed in there you should be good to go.

When it comes to removing it, you can just pull up on the side of the tab, and then that should release the pressure out.So pretty easy to use, very durable, they even make roof racks with this, and I've used them myself and it is surprisingly strong. So these are definitely a cool item. Our holders fits into a high density polypropylene base, so it's going to be very sturdy and able to withstand a pretty good amount of weight. The pull rating on this is 210 pounds, and it only weighs a pound and a half itself. So lightweight enough that you don't have to worry about lugging anything heavy around to get attached, but should do a great job.

Can hold long butts spinning reels, you just have to remove the bottom pin. Has this little ball detent on the one side so you can just pull that out, and then we should be good to go. The slot there helps all our gear slide into place, and helps the rod to keep from spinning. So should make a great addition to any boat out there. As far as the dimensions, from side to side it measures about 13 and a half inches wide from the outside edge to outside edge. From the bottom of our shorter holders to the top of that middle one, it's about 11 inches, so it should be a pretty fairly compact system.

Front to back it's about five and a half inches deep, and whenever you have that depressed, it will be a little bit shorter, but about five inches that this is going to stick out from any surface that you mount it up to. The width of our vacuum cup is six inches. The distance between our rods center to center is about five inches for each of those holders. The outside diameter is two inches, the inner diameter is about one and three eights inches, or just under an inch and a half. It's kind of beveled in there, so you want to be careful with that.Does come with a one-year limited warranty from SeaSucker, and it is made in the USA.

Comes with some waterproof lubricant to help that plunger to keep from getting stuck onto any of those surfaces, so make it a little bit easier to remove. That's going to do it for our look at the SeaSucker Pro Rod Holder.
