Roadmaster Trailer Leaf Spring Suspension - Springs - RM-2460-2570 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster Comfort Ride leaf spring suspension kit with the shock absorbers for tandem 7,000 pound trailer axles. Now this is a suspension upgrade system, provides a nice smooth, comfortable towing experience. Gives you the slipper leaf springs which will replace your existing leaf springs. Gives you the center hanger boxes which will replace your standard equalizers. And it includes these heavy duty gas shocks to absorb road vibration. Now the center hanger boxes right here will isolate your leaf springs to prevent any shock transfer between the axles. Gives you independent axle operation which will increase your traction by as much as 70% during braking.

And they offer the built in rollers which will keep the spring ends from hopping inside of the box to create a nice, smoother, quieter, more controlled ride. Now the shock absorbers right here, they are nitrogen charge shock absorbers, help to eliminate any trailer bouncing, chucking, and porpoising. They do limit the up and down motion of the trailer on both compression and rebound. And they'll even help to control trailer sway by limiting your lateral movement. Now on the slipper springs, on the spring eye ends, they do include the maintenance-free, never-fail bushings, it'll compressed into the spring eyes. They are constructed with a molybdenum and graphite construction.

They're more durable than brass or nylon and they're simple bolt on installation.Again, the application for this system is tandem axle trailers. The axle size it's used on is a three inch diameter. So that'll be your typical 5,200 pound to 7,000 pound axle. Spring capacity is 3,500 pounds per spring. The leaf spring dimensions, let's pick one of these up here.

And the dimensions on these leaf springs are going to be 27 inches long from the center of the spring eye, to the end of the spring. They're two inches wide. The eye diameter with the bushing installed is 3/4 of an inch. They're 9/16 without the bushing. The leaf thickness is 3/8 of an inch.

And you can see it has four leafs to it.Now the shock, the shock length when it's compressed like it is now is 11-1/2 inches. When it's fully extended, is 17-1/2 inches. And again, this part will include everything laid out here on the table. It includes the four slipper springs, the two center hanger boxes, the four shocks, the mounting brackets, and all the hardware you need to install everything. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster Comfort Ride leaf spring suspension kit with shock absorbers for tandem 7,000 pound trailer axles.
