MaxxTow Hitch Pins and Clips - Class III IV Hitch Pin and Clip - MT58FR Review

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at, and today we're going to be taking a look at the MaxxTow Pin and Clip.Any kind of accessory that you might be putting into your hitch is going to need a way to attach in there. So this is going to be just kind of a generic pin and clip to get that attachment for you. This fits for a 2" or a 2-1/2" hitch. There's some different sizes out there, so that's kind of the middle of the range. But usually it's going to be Class III, Class IV hitches that have the 2" x 2" receiver tube opening or a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening. The nice thing about this is that it's going to be a durable steel pin.

I like that it comes in black. Everything that I wear is black, so I always like to have everything match personally. But the other nice thing about that black coating is that helps to prevent any kind of rust and corrosion, so it should last for a long time. It has an e-coat so it's going to be durable and, again, corrosion resistant. Carbon steel construction should be up to the task for hauling most of your accessories or really just about anything that you'd attach to the pin and clip.

It doesn't really provide any kind of anti-rattle though. If you're looking for something like that, we do have other options available here at, so something to consider there. But as far as the size, it is going to have a 3-1/2" span. So going from about the bend or where you actually have your finger there to pull on that pin to the attachment to the clip, it's going to be about 3-1/2". So we'll have easily 3-1/2" of space for this to fit through and still be able to allow us to put our clip in on the other side. The diameter is 5/8", so pretty common or pretty much universal for our 2-1/2" or our 2" hitches. That's pretty much all there is to it for this guy.

Pretty simple, pretty easy to use. Something I like about these clips for this particular pin and clip is that the clip isn't too hard to get in place. Sometimes you really have to fight with them. You want them to hold securely, but not so much that they are going to be impossible to take off. That's not too bad. That's pretty much it for our look at the MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Pin and Clip for your 2" or 2-1/2" hitch.

Hope this video's been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right one for you. If you need a smaller version for a 1-1/4 x 1-1/4" hitch or one for your 3" hitch, we do have other options available here at, so check them out. Thanks for watching.
