Review of MaxxAir RV Vents and Fans MA00-05301K

Today we're going to be taking a look at the MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe. This is a trailer roof vent with a 12 volt fan. It's going to feature a reversible variable speed fan. It's going to allow you to precisely control air movement in and out of your RV. It's going to allow you to bring in fresh air and remove hot musty air and odors. It's going to feature a 4 speed design.

It can be used as a ceiling fan, so it's going to operate while the lid is closed. That will circulate air inside your trailer. It's got the built-in rain cover. That's one of the most unique features about the unit. It's going to use a patented design to keep out the rain, so no more stuffy interiors even when it rains. No need to install a separate vent cover, to get rain protection.

It's going to keep out the rain, even when the lid is open, so you can operate the fan in practically any weather. The durable rain cover lid will open and close with a rotating hand operated knob. What I want to do real quick, is I just want to go over the components of this fan. In order to do that, I'm simply just going to lift it off of the base here. Now I want to point out that it's going to come with, this is your roof mounting flange. It's got 4 clips and 4 mount holes.

It's going to come with the necessary hardware to get that installed onto the roof. To get that installed to the actual housing here of the fan area or the fan housing. All of this right here. It's got 4, 9 holes, 2 on each side to get the 2 components installed together. This piece right here, it's going to give us a measurement of 16 1/2" by 16 1/2". That's outer edge to outer edge.

I just want go over that, so we can set it aside. I also want to mention that it comes with the interior trim piece or garnish. It's a nice white design, so it's going to add a clean finished look to the inside of your trailer or RV. Now this is going to give us a measurement of 16 3/8" by 16 3/8. Outer edge to outer edge, so that's included as well. When it comes to the fan, right now it's in the fully open position. You can see the nice vent design that it has here at the back. When it's installed in the open position, it's going to sit above the roof by 9 5/16". It's a nice low profile design. With it fully closed, it's going to sit above the roof 5". Here on the bottom, you're going to notice all of the functions that it has. This right here is the manual control knob. It simply raises and lowers the lid, or opens and closes the lid. It's also got a lockable position. That way it can lock to ensure that the lid stays in the position where you want it. The unit's going to feature lifting arms. Inside the lid, on this point here, there's going to be a lift arm on this side and on this side. The dual lift arms provide sturdy support for the lid when it's open. It's going to withstand high winds without fluttering. It can remain fully open while you're driving. It's also going to have this flush mounted keypad control right here. It's very easy to access and operate. It's very easy to clean, you can just wipe it off. It's going to have your fan on and fan off buttons. Then you can control between the 4 different speeds that it has to offer. It's going to come with your insect screen. It's got these retaining knobs right here, that just rotate out of the way. You can remove the screen for easy removal and cleaning. Now, this is a standard opening side, it's going to make it easy to replace or upgrade an old vent. That's going to feature a really nice fuse protected sealed ball bearing motor, that's built to last a long time. It's going to come with all the necessary hardware and electrical connectors to get the thing fully installed. We do recommend using some sealant underneath that roof flange, just to create a nice weather tight seal. It is going to require a 12 volt DC minimum 5am service. When it comes to fitting roof thicknesses, this unit's designed to fit roofs 1 1/8" thick to 6 1/2" thick. Now if the roof is less than 1 1/8" thick, the ceiling must be built up. When it comes to the fan's specifications, that fan area is going to measure 12" in diameter. That's going to be a 10 blade design and those are clear blades. The unit's designed to fit inside of a rough opening. Size of 14 1/25" by 14 1/25". It's got your wiring right here, so you're going to have your white wire and your black wire. Black has the positive sticker on it, so that means that the white wire would be your ground wire. Again, it's going to come with the screws necessary to get it installed. As well as the electrical connectors to get the electrical wiring connections made. That's going to do it for today's look at the MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe.
