Review of Lionshead Tires and Wheels LHAWSJ511S

I'm gonna take a look at the Westlake ST235/80 R16 radial tire in a load range E, on the 16 inch Jaguar silver split spoke aluminum wheel, with the six on five and a half inch spoke pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers and trailers. This assembly does come with nitrogen fill. It's indicated by the green valve cap on the valve stem. Nitrogen will help maintain tire pressure longer than standard air and also helps prolong the life of the tire and the wheel. The wheel it's on, is an aluminum wheel.

It's durable, lightweight, rustproof. It is the Jaguar series split spoke design in silver and if you notice the face and the edge of the wheel is all machine finished, and then silver on the accent, and then they put a nice automotive gray clear coat finish on the front to protect the wheel from any scuffs and scratches. Now this alloy wheel does use the steel inserts in the lug nut wells help to keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub, prevents the holes from wearing down and eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. The tire that's found on this wheel is a Westlake radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester plies for a nice long life. The radial ply tire is great for highway use.

They do use a nylon tread-forming belt overlay on the inside of the tire to help prevent tread separation and if you look in the tread grooves, they do have the tread wear indicators which makes it very easy to see how the tire is wearing. Now this is an ST tire which is a special trailer tire, has the nice strong, sturdy sidewalls so it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers and not intended for use on any other vehicles. Now with this assembly, it does come with the Lionshead complimentary roadside assistance for two years, and flat tire service is available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada or Puerto Rico, and also it gives you one year no excuse guarantee on the tire. Now it does .. you can use a center cap on this if you like.

We do sell that separately on our website. It's usually listed on this product page as a related product. This whole assembly will meet the DoT or Department of Transportation specifications. Now we're gonna go through a few specs on it. We'll start with the wheel. The diameter of the wheel is 16 inches and that's always measured inside the inside where the tire bead is.

So 16 inch diameter. The width on just the wheel is six inches wide. The bolt pattern on this wheel is a six on five and a half spoke pattern and if you ever want to measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, like in this case six, it's pretty easy to do because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So if you measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the other on this wheel, it would be five and a half inches. So six on five and a half inch spoke pattern. This will use wheel lug size of either half inch by 20 or 9/16ths by 18. The weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 3200 pounds. Pilot hole diameter, that's the large hole here in the center wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, is 4.25 inches. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on here is ST, for Special Trailer, 235/80 RFD. The R means it's a radial design tired. Section width on this is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the very top, when it's inflated is 30.8. This tire is a load range E which means it's a 10-ply rated tire. Maximum load capacity on this tire is 3520 pounds at 80psi and the last thing I do want to mention is most of all your new trailer tires now are coming with a speed rating on them. This one, where you'll find it is right after the size we just went through. Right behind it you'll see 124, 120. That's the load index, and then the letter L. Speed rating L will mean 75 miles per hour and it actually will even say that underneath. It's speed rating up to 75 miles per hour. But that should do it for the review on the Westlake ST 235/80 RFD radial tire in a load range E on a 16 inch Jaguar silver split spoke aluminum wheel, with the six on five and a half inch spoke pattern.
