Review of Lionshead Tires and Wheels LHAW121

Today we're to take a look at the Westlake ST205-75R15 Radial Tire in a load range D, mounted on this 15 inch silver modular trailer wheel, with a 5 on 4 and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel is a modular design steel wheel. When they say modular that's the one that has the round bolts all the way around the wheel. This one has a nice silvery coat finish on the front, and even on the back of the wheel. It is very sturdy and rust resistant. Now the tire that's mounted on this wheel is a Westlake Radial Tire. It's made of high-quality rubber.

It's reinforced by layers of steel and polyester belt. It's great for highway use. The tread design gives you a nice, excellent traction. They do use a nylon tread overlay to prevent tread separation. This tire even uses tread ware indicators like you'll see on your passenger car tire, and what that is you if you look at the shoulder you'll see TWI ever so often. Right wherever you see TWI that means "Tread Ware Indicator".

If you look in the tread grooves all the way across the tire there'll be a raised area, the tread indicator looks like a speed bump, its a 230 seconds tread depth. So what happens when this tire wears down, and it's a straight bar across the tire, that means your tire's officially worn out, so that tread ware indicator is telling you that. So basically as you are using this tire if you look right where it says "Tread Ware Indicator" that will give you a good visual and indication as to how much tread you have left on the tire. Now this tire and wheel assembly is inflated with nitrogen, that's why they use the green valve cap on the valve stem to let you know that. Nitrogen will maintain tire pressure for a longer periods than standard air. It also help prolong the life of the tire and even the wheel. This is a special trailer tire design, it'll couple strength of a bias tire with the durability and stability of a radial tire.

It is created specifically for trailers, it is not intended for use on any other vehicles. Also included with this tire and wheel assembly is a complementary 24-hour roadside assistance program for one year from the manufacturer. This assembly does meet the DOT, or the Department of Transportation's specifications. A few specks on this, the diameter wheel is 15 inches, and that is measured inside to inside. The width on just the wheel is 5 inches wide. Bolt pattern on this wheel is 5 on 4 and a half inches and if you want to measure bolt pattern on a wheel like this that is an odd number of lugholes, which would be five, you just pick one of the holes like this one and then you'll measure directly across to either one of these holes. When you measure you measure from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure to.

So on this one would measure 4 and a half inches. So 5 lug, 4 and a half inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. Weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 1,870 lbs. Pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel that goes over the hub on your trailer, the diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches. Now the tire size, which is stamped on the side wall, ST for "Special Trailer", 205-75R15. The R designates that it is a radial design tire. Section width on this is 8 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 26.1. Now this tire is a load range-D which makes means it's an 8 ply-rated tire. So maximum load capacity is 2,150 lbs at 65 PSI. And one last thing on a lot of your new trailer tires, they are coming through with a speed rating stamped on them, and the speed rating is always designated with a letter designation. Where you'll find that is right after you go to the size on the side wall, you'll see 2 numbers for the load index, and then the letter at the very end. This is speed rating L, which means 75 miles per hour. That should do it for the review on the Westlake ST205-75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a load range-D on this 15 inch silver modular trailer wheel, with the 5 on 4 and a half inch bolt pattern.
