Kodiak Trailer Hubs and Drums - Hub with Integrated Rotor - KHR1389E Review

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Kodiak 13 inch oil bath hub and rotor with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern and the 9/16 diameter bolt for a 7,000 pound 8,000 pound axle. Now, this is a single piece assembly, makes installation a snap, whether you're retrofitting or switching from drum brakes. Uses a machine process which will minimize run out and warping. And contaminants can't get in between the rotor and the hub. It's all one piece, and it is a nice balanced unit, provides a nice smooth ride.

Now it is a vented design. If I turn this to the side, you'll be able to see the vents right here. This'll help effectively dissipate the heat, prevents any heat related damage to the rotor. The wheel studs that are used here, the industry standard bearing races are installed, and the screw in polycarbonate oil cap are all included. This is a cast iron construction. Ensures a favorable friction coefficient for necessary stopping power and this whole rotor you can see as I spin this around, has a nice e-coat finish on it, provides corrosion resistance for freshwater and limited saltwater use.

Again, the specs on this fits 7,000 pound 8,000 pound axles. The wheel size this accepts is a 16 inch and larger, bolt pattern we mentioned is eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, wheel bolt diameter is 9/16 of an inch, rotor diameter is 13 inches. Now the bearings that are used in this are sold separately. It uses a inner bearing of 25580 part number, outer bearing of 02475. We had mentioned the bearing races outer and inner are all pre-installed.

They come with it. And the oil seal that goes in the back, it is sold separately also. It's part number RG06-070, has an outer diameter of 3.376 inches. And again, this is your screw in oil bath cap. That'll just screw in there and you can see it's clear so you're able to see how much oil is in there, if you have enough oil. And then it has a little center plug that you can pop out if you need to add oil.

But that should do it for the review on the Kodiak 13 inch oil bath hub and rotor with the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern with 9/16 diameter bolts for a 7,000 pound 8,000 pound axle.
