Review of Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring HM40157

Today we're going to review part number HM40157. This is the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90 degree Wiring Harness with the 7-pole plug. This is a custom fit part number that is designed to fit the 1999 to 2001 Ford F250 and F350 Super Duties with the factory 7-way connector. This harness will provide a 7-way blade style connector in your truck bed for a hassle-free hookup of your 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer. The connector head right here, is designed with a 90-degree angle you can see. That's so it fits into the tight spaces in your truck bed side rails.

Basically what you do is drill a hole in the side of your truck bed. This would slide up in there and it'll allow you to install this 7-way right in the side of your truck bed. Now the lid on this has an oversized hinge you can see right here, which opens 180 degrees for an easy connection. Now this does allow you to retain the use of the 7-way connector at the rear of your truck. This does install very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing required.

Basically right here you plug this T-connector into your factory wiring and your vehicle's factory installed 7-way connector. On your truck you'd have a 7-way on your bumper. You just unhook the harness behind that, plug inaudible 00:01:23these plugs into that, one into the 7-way, one into the harness and then you can run this length of wire up to the truck bed side and then install your 7-way on the side of your truck bed. It gives you 10 foot length of this wiring harness so it allows you to go from your rear bumper to the truck bed. It does offer enhanced weather proofing with the internal seals, corrosion resistant terminals and the rubber-coated copper wiring. It is constructed of an extremely durable ABS plastic.

It does include everything shown here, the self tapping screws, some zip ties to take up any slack in the wiring and the two packets of the dielectric grease which you want to apply to any of your terminals when you go to plug them in. Now again, the specs on this, the harness length of this is 10 feet. The wire gauges on these wires, basically the purple, green and yellow and brown wires, are a 16 gauge. The blue, red and white are 12 gauge. Basically what you would do and, again, it comes with a nice set of instructions with the pictures of where your connections are so you just go to the 7-way on your bumper, unplug the harness behind it, plug this T-connector into there, run this length of wire up to the side of your truck bed, drill a hole in there, install your 7-way on the side of your truck bed just like that. Now there is one other thing I need to mention to you. You'll see this extra length of white wire coming out of the wire loom, that you would need to ground to get it to work correctly.

You can attach this to a ground already on there or you can drill a hole and put a grounding screw and attach your own ground. That should do it for the review on part number HM40157. This is the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-degree Wiring Harness with the 7-pole plug. .
