Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with the four-way trailer connector. Now, this part is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2002 to 2007 Jeep Liberty vehicles, and on any custom fit part I always like to recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, this plug-in simple wiring connector will provide a no hassle, quick and easy way to wire your vehicle. It provides this four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights.
All this connects very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing of wires. Basically you just locate your connection points in the rear of the vehicle, plug in this T connector, attach your converter to a nice flat surface, and then run the wire out the back to connect to your trailer. Now, it does include this taillight converter, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. If you notice on the four-way, it does come with this nice dust cap, so when you're not plugged into your trailer, you can just put this on over the four-way, just like that, and it'll protect those terminals from any damage or from the elements themselves. Now, it does also come with a grounding screw, because on installation you do need to ground the white wire, and it comes with some terminal grease that you want to put on all your electrical connections to prevent any corrosion. Basically, on the installation on this on the Jeep Liberties, the OEM plug that this plugs into is usually located behind the paneling in the back of the vehicle, and it's on the passenger side.
Basically you'll just unplug it, plug this into its place, one on one end, one on the other, take your white wire with the eyelet on it, connect this to a nice clean ground. If you can't find one, you can drill a hole and make your own clean ground. Then, what you want to do is take a piece of double-faced tape or a wire tire, and attach this down to a nice, flat surface so it doesn't bounce around, and then run this out the back. Basically there's a grommet that's located in the floor of the Jeep Liberty, and this is to allow for you to run this four-way flat connector out down by the trailer hitch. Once you do that, we would recommend to get a mounting bracket so you can mount his fully to the vehicle. We do sell those on our website, and they are listed on this product page as a related product.
Then you're all ready to plug this into the trailer, just apply the lights on your trailer. That should do it for the review of the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with the four-way trailer connector.
