Review of HWT Tires and Wheels TTWAL06156545S

Today we're going to review part number TTWAL06156545S. This is the HWT Aluminum 15 by 6 high spec series 06 trailer wheel, with the 5 on 4 and 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This is an aluminum wheel, which is very durable, lightweight and rust proof. This is the high spec series 06 design, which is an attractive 7 spoke pattern with the center cover cap over the lugs. The front and the back of the wheel are clear coated for protection against corrosion. The nice thing is on the front of the wheel if you'll notice the face of the spokes, and then the spoke right on the edge here.

The whole face is machine polished, and then it's silver accent in between the spokes, and the wheel again is clear coated to protect it. Gives a nice shine. This does use the ICF technology, which is improved clamp force. This will help keep your wheel securely in place. There's no need to re-torque after your initial installation. The center cap that bolts on you can see is all included.

Covers the lugs. This is a high quality wheel that'll meet the department of transportation specifications. Just to show you how this cap comes off, there's a large Phillips screw right here. We'll just unscrew that. I'll show you how this cap installs.

Basically once we get this screw all the way out, we'll be able to pop the cap off. Now that we've got that off, you can see the cap will come right off. You can see your lug holes right underneath. On the cap what's interesting if you'll notice right where the screw is, if you go 180 degrees from that, there's a little tab right here on the cap. That's designed to go into the screw. Here's your screw hole and here's your groove.

When you put that in, you put the tab in first and then screw it down in there. It holds the cap securely in place. A few specs on this. The rim dimensions, the diameter of this wheel is 15 inches in diameter, and the width is 6 inches in width. When we go to measure that, what you're measuring is when the tire will mount on this wheel, the tire beads will seat right here. What you're measuring is the width from bead seat to bead seat, inside to inside. The diameter is the same way, bead seat to bead seat. If we take a tape measure, we put a tape measure on that, you can see if you go all the way across it'll be 15 inches for the diameter wheel. Same way on the width. If we go inside to inside, bead seat to bead seat, right at 6 inches. So, 15 by 6 in the rim. Bolt pattern on this is a 5 lug, 4 and 1/2 inch bolt pattern. If you want to measure the bolt pattern, when you measure a wheel that has an odd number of lugs, what you'll do is pick one lug hole. Then you'll measure from that lug hole directly across to one right across from it. If you start here you can go to either one of these, but the trick is you need to measure from the center of the starting hole to the outer edge of whatever hole you go to. In this case, if we go from this hole to this hole, what I'll be doing is putting starting hole at center, and the outer hole, there's the center. You can see right at 4 and 1/2 inches to the outer edge of the hole you go to. 5 on 4 and 1/2 inches. This does use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20. The pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, the diameter measurement on that is going to be right at 3.19 inches. This wheel does have a weight capacity of 2,150 pounds. Then again, just to show you this cap will go back on. You find the tab. Put it in the tab. Go ahead and put your Phillips screw in there. Get it started. Take your screwdriver and go ahead and tighten that down. When you tighten this down, you don't want to over tighten it. You just want to snug it down to keep the cap from moving around on the wheel. Right now as you get close to tightening it down . There we go. Just snug it up. With it snug, you can see that the cap will stay secure. With that tab it'll hold it in place, so you're ready to go. That should do it for the review on part number TTWAL06156545S. This is the HWT Aluminum 15 by 6 high spec series 06 trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 and 1/2 inch bolt pattern. .
