Greystone RV Stoves and Ovens - Cooktop - GR57FR Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Greystone 1300-watt single-burner RV induction cooktop. Now, an induction cooktop is basically an electromagnet that you can cook with. It's more efficient, and it's faster than traditional cooking. The heat is basically just produced in the pan, not the cooktop, and more of the energy goes into the food, so it's more efficient to cook with. And also, the energy gets to the food more quickly, because the pan gets hotter faster, so you can even cook faster.

So that's why you need to use specific cookware for induction cooking. Induction cooking will only work properly if the cooking pans contain iron. So the copper, aluminum pans, and glass cookware won't work on induction cooking. Now, this one does include this nice 10-inch-diameter stainless steel skillet that'll work, and the nice tongs to go with it.Now, this induction cooktop has one burner for cooking on the go. It'll utilize heat.

There are seven heat levels and 13 temperature settings, so that you can cook a wide range of dishes in your RV. It does offer multiple heat and temperature settings, which will give you lots of cooking options. The seven heat levels we've mentioned will range from 100 watts to 1300 watts, and the 13 temperature-controlled settings will range from 100 degrees Fahrenheit up to 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, they do use an auto pan detection that'll distribute the heat to the surface covered only by the diameter of the cookware. Now, this does offer safety features, which will help keep you, your family, and your RV safe. Offers an automatic shutoff function, which will turn off the cooktop after two hours of continuous use.

Has a hot surface indicator light to let you know when the burner's on, and it even has a child lock, which keeps anyone from accidentally activating the cooktop. Now, I want to zoom in on the cooktop itself. On the cooktop, you can see it has a control panel that'll show settings, function, and error information. Basically, if we go across here, right here is an on and off button. Right here will be the LED display. Over here is the child lock we mentioned.

Right here is the temperature control. Here's a keep-warm button. Right over here is the timer icon, and then over here is the power. Now, in the middle, you can see this level thing here. They have a minus and a plus, so it's a plus and minus adjustment of the timer. And then it has a sliding control for power and temperature level, so it's very easy to operate. Now, the construction on this will resist vibration and extreme climate changes. It's a nice ceramic black glass surface. Provides easy cleaning. And in the very back of the unit right here, you can see it does have an exhaust vent that'll blow any of the hot air out. It is a table-mount design. It comes with four rubber feet, or it can also be flush-mounted into your counter.A few specs on this, the overall measurements. The width on it is going to be right at 11. There we go: 11 5/8 inches. The height on it, it's going to be right at 2 3/16 inches tall. Total depth on it is right at 15 inches deep. Now, the flush mount cutout. If you're going to mount this into a counter, the flush mount or the cutout measurement is going to be 10 3/4 inches wide by 14 3/16 inches deep. The diameter on the burner itself is 10 inches. Now, the electric supply is 120 volts AC at 60 Hz. The power cord here that plugs in is 48 inches long. Total connected load is 1300 watts, and the weight of this unit is only 10 1/2 pounds, so it's very lightweight. It does come with a nice instruction manual to describe how to cook with it, how it all operates. And again, we mentioned it comes with the stainless steel skillet and tongs. But that should do it for the review on this Greystone 1300-watt single-burner RV induction cooktop.
