Review of Fastway Accessories and Parts FA92-02-4214

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Fastway E2 Weight Distribution Shank. This is designed for use with Fastway E2 Weight Distribution Systems. It can be used in either the drop or rise positions. It's going to be constructed of a sturdy steel construction, and the unit's going to feature a really nice black powder coat finish on it, to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. When you're installing this in your hitch, you slide it in the receiver tube, line up your hitch pin holes, and secure with a hitch pin and clip or hitch lock. The pin holes on this unit will accept a standard 5/8" diameter hitch pin.

Your hitch pin and clip or hitch lock are sold separately, so if you're in need of something like that, you can check out options here at The product is made right here in the USA. It's designed for a 2" by 2" trailer hitch receiver. When it comes to the gross towing weight, we're looking at up to 12,000 pounds, maximum tongue weight up to 1,200 pounds. If you're using this with a round bar system, and you have the unit in a rise position, with the head assembly at the highest setting, this is going to give you a maximum rise of 7-1/2", measuring from the inside top edge of the receiver tube of your hitch, to the top of the ball platform. If you're using the drop position, and you do those same measurements with the head assembly at the lowest setting, you're looking at a maximum drop of 6".

With a trunnion bar system, maximum rise is 9-1/2", maximum drop is 4". The adjustment holes on the unit, see all those line up right there, those are separated on center by 1-1/4" apart. It's going to feature 6 holes, so the 1-1/4" measurement is your incremental height adjustment for this shank. If we take a measurement of the overall length, measuring from very front to very back, you can see that the unit measures 12" long. If we measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes, we're looking at right on 8", to the front is 9", to the back of the bar is 7". From the center of the hitch pin hole to the brace right here, that's going to give us a measurement of about 4", and then from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point of the weld there for that support, that's actually going to measure 3-1/2". That's going to do it for today's look at the Fastway E2 Weight Distribution Shank..
