Review of Draw-Tite Gooseneck 9465-54

Today were going to review part number 9465-54. This is the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the installation kit. This gooseneck trailer hitch is perfect for your heavy duty towing needs. This part number here is specifically for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 and 2500 light duty trucks with either a 6 -foot bed or an 8-foot bed. Now as far as the year and models they will fit, we do recommend to go to the product page on our website of this part number and at the bottom of the page youll see a listing of the years and models of vehicles this will fit. This is an underbed design which will insure full access to the truck bed.

This is all underneath the truck bed. This is attached to the frame rails on the truck. Only the ball which is a 2 5/16 size hitch ball, and the safety chain loops which are spring loaded are visible in the truck bed when the hitch is set up to tow. Now this hitch ball will flip over and store upside down in this round sleeve and under the bed when its not in use. You just use this magnetic cover to put on top to keep any dirt or grime from getting into that round sleeve.

Now on the side here youll have convenient access to this durable grip handle right here. This will be accessible in the wheel well of the drivers side of your vehicle. This will help you easily engage and disengage the ball. Basically if you just pull out on the handle move it to the side it will latch into place and stay open allow you to slide open the hitch ball, and again to store it we mentioned you just flip it upside down, drop it into place, engage it, and its locked into place, put your cover on and youre pretty much flush. Truck beds all open you have full access to it.

Im going to open it up and I do want to show you this hitch has a round sleeve and the round shank on the hitch ball, and what that does is that will provide a tighter fit than some of the square design goosenecks. That will help reduce the rattle and boost the durability of the hitch. Now one other feature if you look on it there is a slot right here that goes all the way up and down the shank of this. Basically that slot needs to line up with the pin in the sleeve, and if you look right over here theres a pin that sort of juts out a little bit. That will allow it to line up with the slot and drop into place, and you can lock it into place.

If by chance you moved it and tried to do it that way, as you can see the pin will keep it from dropping in so it does need to line up with that pin to drop into place then lock it into place. This is a custom rail kit with the side mounting brackets. These are designed specifically for your vehicle. There is usually no drilling, welding, or bed removal required. Now all these parts are black powder coat steel which is a sturdy and corrosion resistant finish. The towing capacity on this part, we do recommend to see your vehicles owners manual because these rails and mounting brackets will be rated to match the manufacturers tow rating. The head unit right here thats bolted in the middle, it is rated at 30,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity with a 7,500 pound vertical load limit. This head unit will install to these rails, as you can see theres two bolts here, two back here. So it installs using the four 5/8-inch diameter Grade A carriage bolts, and when installing this you will need to cut a 3 diameter hole for this round sleeve to fit through, along with four 9/16 holes for the spring loaded safety chain u-bolts to fit through. Now just to show you again, its in the tow position. The balls locked into place. If youre done towing and you just want to hide it, pull open the handle, slide this out, flip it over, drop it down into place, engage your handle so its locked and wont come out, put your magnetic cover on, pretty much have full access to your truck bed, and when it comes time to hook up your gooseneck, just remove your cover, disengage the handle, pull up on your hitch ball, turn it over, drop it into place, engage it. Now youre ready to tow simple as that. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty and that should do it for the review on part number 9465-54 the Draw Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with this installation kit.
