Dometic RV Toilet - Full-Timer with Sprayer - DOM49FR Review

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Dometic RV toilet. This is going to be the full-timer, so this is for those people who are out on the road a lot, maybe your permanent residence is now in your RV or you just want the best of the best. This is going to be the right one for you. This one has a hand sprayer. It's also going to have the ceramic bowl and a low profile design. So, if we look at this one kind of in comparison to some of the other ones we have here at etrailer.com it's going to be that one on the far left.

This is kind of our good, better, best commode. And with that low profile design, a lot of RVs will have a raised platform that this sits on, so this is going to work out well for those or if you just have limited space and you want something that sits a little bit lower to the ground. Just keep that in mind whenever you're going to sit on this guy it is going to be a bit short, so. I think it's about five inches shorter than your typical standard height so something to keep in mind. The seat and lid are going to be a wooden design or wooden material that's going to be more durable and also less chilly in those winter months. So you won't have to worry about getting frozen while you're using the bathroom at night.

It is a bit heavier though, so if you just close the lid, it's going to slam and hit that. So if that's a concern for you, there are others that have a slow close lid, but it's not going to be wood. Wood's heavier, so can't really utilize that same function. It's going to have the elongated design. Again, this is going to be more similar to what you find at home and the basin is going to be a little bit deeper than other ones. So those are both things that make it a little bit more comfortable to use.

And on the side you'll see our foot pedal. So this is where we actually flush. You want to make sure that you leave a little bit of water in the bowl at all times. It's going to help to cut down on smells. Just kind of helps to seal up that opening.

It should stay closed, but they just suggest that as a way to help from any vapors escaping basically from your black water tank. This is designed to sit right over the top of your black water tank or to go directly to that. As far as the operation of the toilet, you can see that there as you press on that pedal, it's going to open up that ball valve to let everything go down. Our hand sprayer, that's going to help us to clean everything up if anything happens to be a little bit more stubborn without wasting water and also without filling that tank too soon or too quickly. People also like to use this to maybe clean up in the shower, to give the dog a bath if you have a pup with you or just to help clean everything off and have another sprayer there so that can be kind of a dual purpose. You see at the bottom we'll have our hardware or our holes to mount this in place. It does come with the hardware to do that. So we'll have our T bolts, washers and flange nuts and then also the caps to go over the top of those nuts. And then we'll also have a little brace or a little holder for that hand sprayer if you want to mount that on the wall. So it's easy at hand out of the way.So pretty straightforward install, just attaches to your floor flange and pretty much put that over the hardware and you're good to go there. One thing I would advise is to clean out your black water tank before you get going on installing this. If not cleaning it all out, at least empty it. It's going to make the install a bit more enjoyable for you. So that's something to keep in mind and also maybe keeping that covering closed with some saran wrap or something else. And definitely use gloves. But as far as measurements with this, we can take a look at some numbers. So the total weight is going to be about 31.7 pounds. The height going from the base to the top of the lid is 16 inches. The total length is going to be 22 and a quarter, I'm just going to verify that for you. So yeah, it looks like 22 and a quarter going from the very back to the front edge of the bowl. The seat length is going to be 17 and a half inches. The thickness on that is about two and three quarters. The depth of the bowl, eight and a half inches. And then our seat cut-out or this portion here is going to be 11 and three quarters by eight and a half. And our hand sprayer hose length is 44 inches. So hopefully that gives you an idea of what this is going to fit, how it's going to fit in your vehicle and all of that. This is going to have a kind of twin, it is available in tan. That version though, that part number that you see on the screen, that one does not have the hand sprayer, but if you want to have that different color, a tan design instead of the white that this one is, that is an option for you. As I mentioned, there are other toilets available here at etrailer.com this is going to be kind of the best echelon of those so if you want to see the other ones, definitely check them out if you're interested. This does come with a two year limited warranty and is made in the USA. I hope I've answered all of your questions, if not, leave us a comment and we'll get back to you and thanks for watching.
