Dometic Camping and Hiking - Campsite Accessories Portable Toilet - DOM54FR Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Dometic 972 series portable camping toilet, with the 2.6 gallon tank in the tan color. Now this is a nice durable travel toilet, designed for camping, RV-ing, boating or any other recreational activity. And it's also great as an emergency option on long car rides. You can see it's very small, but handy and space saving. It's a portable toilet that adds clean comfort to your RV, boat or camping adventures. A few specs on this. The overall weight on it is 10 and a half pounds.

The width of it is 13 and one eighths inches wide. The depth on it, front to back is 15 and a quarter inches deep, and then the height, bottom to the top is 12 and a half inches tall. Now the functions in this toilet are contained in the smallest possible space to ensure that you can enjoy home-like comfort when you're traveling. It does use a scratch resistant finish, which makes it very easy to keep clean. And the durable design of the high density polyethylene construction on this toilet will look new for a long time.It does offer powerful flushing at the touch of the button right here in the front, without constant pumping or batteries, and this sets this portable toilet apart from a lot of the other ones. We did say tan color and if you look at it, the very bottom portion is the tan.

It's a light tan color. The top is white. And also, I want to show you how this operates. We're going to go through all the steps, but I also wanted to mention to you, if you look on the back of the lid right here, it gives you the steps, how to prepare it, how to use it, how to empty it. I'm going to go through those steps, but just to let you know, you can always look there.

It does come with a nice instruction manual that will describe everything also.So basically, the first thing you want to do is to prepare this for use. What you want to do is you want to pull the flush handle right here, with the lid close all the way out, and that will relieve any air pressure in the tank, and then go ahead and close back the handle. And then what you want to do, right over here is the water cap, just remove this water cap, and then put your hose in there and fill this water tank up to about one inch below the opening. And then you'll go ahead and put that cap back on. And then what you want to do is pull this flush handle back open, and what that does, let me turn it to you so you can see, it'll open the slide valve right there.

So what you want to do then is pour your deodorant or sanitizer into that lower tank. You do not want to pour that into the upper tank, you want to put that in the lower tank. And then just go ahead and close that valve again. And then what you'll do is take this and you'll pump this air pump right here about 15 times or until the air emits through the relief valve on this cap, and that's pressurizing the water in the tank. And you just pumped out a few 15 times or like I say, until that you hear the air coming out of this relief valve. And then you're already to use. Then when you go to use this, what you want to do. Again with the lid closed, pull that flush handle and that will relieve any air pressure in the tank, then go ahead and close it and open it up. Go ahead and it. Once you're done using it, pull this flush handle and that'll release the waste into the lower tank. And then what you want to do is push this flush button and that uses the water of the upper tank and it rinses and cleans the toilet out. And then you'll want to go ahead and just push that flush handle to close the slide valve. Go ahead and close it.Now that does use a 2.6 gallon tank right here. It's a detachable holding tank and it does seal firmly to prevent escaping leaks or odors. It does have this tank level indicator, right here on the front and that allows for easy tank level monitoring. Once that gets full and you're ready to empty it, what you want to do, let me show you on the back here, you'll just pull up on this latch right here and that'll unhook the top tank from the bottom, and all your waste will be in this lower tank. And it has a handle on it, so allows you to carry your lower tank to the waste disposal area. And once you get to the disposal area, you'll just rotate this discharge shoot there, take off the cap. And then right here there's a valve, what you want to do, it says close, you want to turn it to open. So you open the vent and then that'll allow you to go to your waste disposal and empty it out.Once it's all empty, if they have clean water nearby, you could spray it in there to help clean it out. When you're ready to go, go ahead and put your cap back on. Go ahead and close the vent to closed, and then just rotate that discharge shoot back in there. Then you're all ready to go. Take your upper tank, slide it on the front right there. Once it's slid on. Let's try that again. There you go. Once it's on enough, just push it down and it locks into place, and you're all ready to go. Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the Dometic 972 series portable camping toilet with the 2.6 gallon tank in the tan color.
