Review of Diversi-Tech Ball Mounts DTALBM6400-2S
Today were going to review part #: DTALBM6400-2S, this is the DiversiTech self-locking adjustable aluminum ball mount. This adjustable ball mount will make it easy for you to hold different trailers. The ball height will adjust in increments of 1 inch so that you can easily switch between trailers that have different tongue heights, the reversible ball platform will let you swap between a 2 inch ball or a 2 5/16 inch ball. Has a convenient self-locking system which will lock the ball mount to the receiver tube and the ball platform to the ball mount. Built in locks, they get lost, the lock seals, right here, when you take the key out, you push this in to seal it or double seal to keep out water, that will help resist corrosion and requires no maintenance. They do use a tube style key if you look at it that way and there are four included, two here and two here, they are keyed alike.
The ball mount is machined from a solid piece of aircraft grade billet aluminum, the solid aluminum will produce a lightweight yet strong ball mount and that does avoid any welds which can cause weak points that might break. A polished finish will create a high quality appearance. The hitch balls are stainless steel, they are included, stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion and it does have a, on this part of the ball mount that inserts into your hitch, there is a built in anti-rattle system and what it is, is two balls that are spring loaded, so when you slide this into the hitch those balls would press up, outside to your hitch, keeps your ball mount from moving around, keeps it quiet, lessens the wear on it and because it stops the movement of the ball mount when no trailers attached. This part is made in the USA and it does fit 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. And again, the ball diameters are 2 inches here and 2 5/16 here, it does have a towing capacity of 10,000lbs, does have a tongue weight capacity of 1500lbs.
And basically I want to show you how this would work is with the key installed this will slide into your 2 inch hitch and if youll notice when I turn the key to lock it those pins will come out, they will protrude out and slide into the hitch pinhole into your hitch which would lock this in place and these anti-rattle balls will keep it from moving around. So with that locked in place onto your hitch then you can just put your seal back in to protect the lock and then with this on your hitch, if you want to use the 2 inch side you would just slide this up onto it, whatever height you need. If you need the 2 5/16 inch hitch ball you just turn that over, slide that up that way and basically same way on this one to lock it in, if youll notice theres a pin right here and when you turn the lock, if you watch, when you turn it it will extend out. And basically what that does is it will extend out into one of these holes, whichever height you need and then youd move the key and itd be locked into place. So right now Im going to put it on the lowest position, that will give you your maximum drop and basically your maximum drop would be measured from the top here to the top of here right, so if we measure that, that will give you a maximum drop of 4 inches and then you can unlock it and move it up an inch at a time if you need to adjust at any and now Im going to put it in the maximum rise position, so if we unlock it it releases it, now turn this over and this would be slid in, now youre at the rise position, so then you can just slide this down, turn it to lock it in and that would put your hitch ball whichever size you need it at the maximum rise position that would be measured from here to here, so if we do that, maximum rise position should be 5 inches and Ill give you one other quick measurement, from the hitch pinhole to the center of the hitch ball, if we measure that, that will be, to give you an idea here, 8 inches, thats the distance from the center of the hitch pinhole to the center of the ball.
This product does come with a one year limited warranty and that should do it for our review of part #: DTALBM6400-2S.
