Review of Demco Trailer Coupler DM12141-97

Today, we'll be reviewing part number DM12141-97. This is the Demco Trailer Coupler with a flat plate mount. It's going to feature eZ-Latch design. It's also got a little hole up here, that way, you can install a coupler pin or a coupler lock. Those are going to be sold separately. The heavy duty ball coupler is inaudible 0:00:18 hookup your trailer to your tow vehicle providing a great connection point for 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.

It's going to be ideal for utility, livestock, cargo, and construction trailers. It's going to feature the flat mounting plate that's going to bolt directly to the trailer. Your hardware is going to be sold separately. The plate is going to give us a measurement of 6 inches by 6 inches and the distance between the mount holes center-on-center is going to measure 4-1/2 inches. That's a square design, so it's going to be 4-1/2 inches all away around center-on-center. It's made from a sturdy steel construction with a nice primed finish.

It's going to offer a weight capacity of 21,000 pounds. The bolt holes here at the rear are going to give us a diameter of 5/8 of an inch. You can see here on the eZ-Latch system, it has a nice little hole there, that way, you can install a coupler pin or a coupler lock. If I operate that, you can see the mechanism on the inside. Now, one of the neat features about the eZ-Latch mechanism is it's going to insure a simple, secure hookup and disconnect. It's going to let you hook up when the latch is in a closed position.

All you have to do is drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place. I got a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball for demonstration. If I pop it in there, you can hear it snap into place. Now, you know that it's going to be seated correctly when this lever is sitting completely horizontal. You will be able to tell that it's in the correct spot as well by making sure that the coupler pin holes line up with one another.

Now, if the ball is not connected all the way, this latch would actually have more of a severe angle. It wouldn't be laying horizontally and so, you would know that you need to disconnect and try reconnecting the ball. Now, to disengage the hitch ball from the coupler, all you have to do is pull up on the latch . It's going to allow the hitch ball to disengage. Again, this is rated at 21,000 pounds and it's designed for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. That's going to do it for today's review of part number DM12141-97. This is the Demco Trailer Coupler. .
