Curt Trailer Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - C54CR Review

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Curt two inch hitch ball. This is a great replacement for an existing ball that's maybe gotten worn out, rusted, or damaged, or maybe you're just getting a whole new system and you want to create that ball mount to fit with your trailer set up. So this works with a two inch coupler. You just need to make sure that you have a one inch hole to allow the shank to slide through there and fit nicely.Let's take a closer look at it and go over some of the features and make sure that this is the right fit for you. It is made out of a heat resistant, or heat treated steel.

So it's going to be nice and durable for a long time, and then it has a Chrome finish to provide that corrosion resistance as well.It does have the included nut and lock washer to help hold that in place. You want to make sure that whenever you put this on your ball mount, that you torque it down to specs. It comes with those numbers, so that's going to be the hardest part of install is just getting it torqued down properly. It does take a lot of force to do that so if you want to make sure that you either take it to a shop or use a large torque wrench, to be able to do that. There's a couple of flats on either side and make it a little easier to get that installed. It has fine threads on the shank there to provide a nice tight grip onto that ball mount so you don't have to worry about it twisting or coming loose over time, especially with also that lock washer as well.Again, this is going to work for a ball mount that has a one inch diameter hole, and it fits a ball mount platform that's at least three eights of an inch thick.

The shank is two inches and an eighth, or two and eight inch long. The weight capacity that this can handle is 7,500 pounds or 7,500 pounds, and it does have a one year limited warranty. Now what the rate weight rating, I would say you want to be sure to check the weight rating for not only your ball, but also the ball mount, your pin, your hitch and your vehicle. You never want to exceed the lowest number between any of those components. If you think of it, you're really only as strong as your weakest link. So make sure that everything is up to spec so that you're safe whenever you're towing.

That's pretty much it for our look at the Curt two inch ball. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. We do have a lot of other options available here at etrailer.com. So check them out. Thanks for watching..
