Curt Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Adjustable Ball Mount - C57UR Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm going to take a look at this Curt Rebellion XD shock-absorbing adjustable ball mount with the two-inch and 2-5/16 diameter hitch balls. And it fits a two-and-a-half inch hitch receiver. Now this ball mount has the included hitch balls that will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what will slide into your two-and-a-half inch hitch receiver opening on your vehicle.

And up front you have either a 2-5/16 diameter ball or a two-inch diameter ball that provides the connection points for your trailer coupler. Now what's unique about this one, it uses an innovative shock drop technology. Ensures a nice, smooth, steady ride. Basically right in here, they use a shock-absorbing cushion isolator, which will dampen any jerking, jarring vibrations, chucking or rattling. And it's virtually maintenance free, there's no airbags or bearings to service. Does have a built in grease Zerk fitting right down here that'll let you easily lubricate the pivot point of the internal isolator core.

And it gives you an adjustable high, so it'll let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. Basically, this hitch ball platform, if you pull the clip and the pins, it'll slide up or down on the channel and you secure it in place with the stainless steel pins and clips.Does have a rubber bumper on the back here, that'll also help keep it from jarring or any noise, and it will give you eight different adjustment positions available. And each one, if you measure between each hole here, it's one and a quarter inches. So it'll give you incremental height adjustments from one and a quarter inches. Maximum drop, if we put this all the way down to the bottom would be eight-inch drop.

If we put it, mounted it all the way up to the top, would give you a one-inch rise. Now this is different than a lot of the ball mounts. This one cannot be flipped into the rise position because of the shock drop design of it. So you won't be able to flip this over like a lot of ball mounts allow you to.Does have a nice texture. Dark gray Teridion finish on it helps resist corrosion, provides premium look.

The balls, they're steel hitch balls. They have a nice yellow zinc finish on them to resist corrosion. And the whole ball mount is a solid carbon steel construction. Gives you exceptional strength and commercial grade towing capacity. Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock for securing it to the hitch receiver. Those items are not included. Those we do sell separately. If you already have one, you do need to have a hitch pin that'll have a diameter of 5/8 of an inch. That's the size of this hitch pin hole right here.Few specs on this, again. It's designed to fit 2.5" x 2.5" trailer hitch receivers. Gross towing weight capacity is 20,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. Now also it will depend on the ball you use. If you use the larger 2-5/16 ball, it'll get you the 20,000 pounds. If you end up using the smaller two-inch diameter ball, it'll reduce it down to 10,000 pounds. A few measurements I want to get you on this. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole right here to the center of these adjustment holes right here, we put a ruler on that. That's going to get you right at about nine an inches. The distance from the center of this hitch pin hole to the end of the shank right here. That's going to get you right at about three and a half inches. And then the distance from the center of the adjustment hole to the center of the hitch ball. That's going to get you right about four and a quarter inches. But that should do it for the review on this Curt Rebellion XD shock-absorbing adjustable ball mount with the two-inch and 2-5/16 hitch balls. And it fits into a two-and-a-half inch hitch receiver.
