Review of Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring C56120

Today we are going to be taking a look at Part Number C56120. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product is going to fit certain years and models of the Ford Edge. It is going to provide your four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. The connector is compatible with five pole, six pole to seven pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately.

It is going to include your tail light converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The powered module is going to connect directly to the battery through the wiring to help avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. The unit is going to be constructed of surface mount technology for consistent, reliable performance. It simply maximizes the trailer light intensity while producing minimal heat and it is also going to ensure superior operation even in rough road conditions. Here on the four way connector, we are going to have the included dust cap.

That is going to protect the connection points when the connector is not being used and you can see everything that it comes with laid out here on the table. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, it emit 3 amps per circuit and for the tail lights, we are looking at 6 amps per circuit. Another neat benefit or feature of this system is that it's a very simple installation. It's going to come with detailed instructions and detailed wiring instructions. These are going to help you get through the installation process. It is going to list out that process step by step, making it very simple to follow and again, those instructions are very detailed. We are just going to talk through the installation a little bit.

Again, a benefit of this system is that it connects quickly and easily. What you will need to do is you will need to locate the connection points behind your tail lights. Then you are going to have your t-connectors. These are going to need to be plugged into those connection points. The plugs are going to match up perfectly.

They are going to snap lock into place for a nice tight secure connection. The side with the yellow wire is going to run to the driver's side of the vehicle and then the side with the green wiring is going to go to the passenger's side. That is why we have a little bit more bundle of wire to reach over to that area. Once you have those connected, you are going to need to locate a suitable grounding point and then you are going to make your ground connection. That is going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it and you can make that connection with the included self-tapping screw, get it secured in a nice clean metal surface. Once you have that done, you are going to need to mount your converter box. You can do that using the provided self-adhesive or double sided tape. You just peel the back off of that, stick on here, peel the other side off and then stick it to a location that's out of the way. The next step is going to be run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is going to be the black wire coming out of the converter box right here. That is going to get connected to the bundled black wire using one of the included butt connectors and then the bundled black wire is going to run all the way up to the vehicle battery. You are going to attach another butt connector to the other end and then that is going to attach one of the fuse holder. The other end of the fuse holder is going to get the ring terminal attached to it and that's going to connect to the positive post on the vehicle battery. That is also going to come with a 10 amp fuse. It goes right in that fuse holder and then the fuse holder has the protective cap that goes over that to close up that connection and secure everything in place. Once you have your hot lead ran, that's really all there is to your installation. Then you can use the included zip ties to secure any slacking or wiring, keeping it up and out of the way. Then it is also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all electric connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole connector itself to help prevent any type of corrosion from being able to settle in. Everything that you need for your installation is included and that is going to do it for today's look at Part Number C56120. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector for certain years and models of the Ford Edge.
