Review of Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring C56111

Today we're going to be reviewing part number C56111. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. It's going to fit certain years and models of the Subaru Impreza and Outback wagon. It's going to provide your 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle. That's going to help power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters.

Those items are sold separately. The benefit of this system is it's going to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate your connection points behind the tail lights at the rear of your vehicle. The yellow and brown side is going to the driver's side of the vehicle. Red and green side's going to run on the passenger side of the vehicle. Once you've located those connection points, simply take the plugs, snap them into place.

The connection points are going to match up perfectly. They're going to snap together for a nice tight secure connection. Once you have the T-connector plugged in, you can make your ground connection. That's going to be your white wire with a ring terminal attached to it. They do provide a self tapping screw.

Then you're going to need to run your hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is going to be this black wire here. It's going to connect to the bundle of black wire with one of the included butt connectors. The other end of black wire gets a butt connector attached to it and connects to the fuse holder. Then the other end of fuse holder gets a ring terminal attached to it and that's all included. That gets attached to the positive terminal on the vehicle battery and it's going to get the included 10-amp fuse installed in the fuse holder.

Now this black box right here, this is going to be our tail light converter. This is just going to ensure that our vehicle's wiring matches that of the trailer's. It connects directly to the battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system. It's actually constructed using some surface-mount technology that's going to offer consistent, reliable performance. Here on the other end of that box we have our bundle of wire for the 4-way flat connector, plenty of wiring and it's going to have a dust cap. That way we can protect our connection points when we're not using the connector. Now once you have everything installed, you could use a mounting bracket to secure this connector. The 4-way flat is going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. Again, we do recommend using a bracket to help keep that secure but you could also loop this around your safety chain loop, just keep it up off the ground and free from any type of damage or harm. A few more elements just to go over with you real quick. Again, this is going to be your fuse holder. You're going to get your fuse. You're going to get a self tapping screw. You're going to get some very detailed instructions. These are going to walk you through the installation process step-by-step. You're going to get all the necessary butt connectors and ring terminal. You're going to get your zip ties to secure any excess or slack in the wiring to keep it up out of the way, to keep it safe. You're going to get some double-sided adhesive tape. That way you can mount your converter box and you're going to get your bundle of black wire which gets connected to the power wire and runs to the vehicle battery after getting connected to the fuse holder and everything. Again, everything you need for a complete installation is included with this part number. We're always going to recommend as well that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections to help prevent any type of corrosion from being able to settle in. If you don't have dielectric grease, you can pick up some here on our website. We do sell that and that is going to be sold separately. That's going to do it for our review of part number C56111. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-pole flat trailer connector.
