Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C55369, this is the curt T connector vehicle wiring harness. It's going to have the 4 pull flat trailer connector. The product is going to fit 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees. It's going to provide your forward flat trailer connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. That is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull, and 7 pull adapters. If you need an adapter you can find those here at etrailer.com they are sold separately. The black box right here, this is going to be your tail light converter.
This is going to ensure that your vehicles wiring matches that of your trailers. It's going to be constructed using surface inaudible 00:00:35 technology. It's going to offer consistent and reliable performance. What that does is it simply maximizes the trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat and it's going to ensure superior operation, even in rougher conditions. A benefit of a system like this is it's designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires.
You do want to start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on the vehicle battery. Then locate the connection point in your rear cargo area. You're going to have this large green plug. The red piece on top is going to be a locking tab. That's going to offer for a nice tight secure fit. This plug is going to match up perfectly with the plug on your vehicle.
The instructions are going to guide you to exactly where that connection point is. You'll plug the two plugs together and then you'll make sure that the locking tab is in the lock position; it's going to really engage for that nice tight fit. Couldn't really get any easier. Once you get that connected, your next step is to go ahead and mount the converter box. You want to do this to a nice clean out of the way location. The kit's going to come with some double sided adhesive tape so you can get the mounted correctly.
It's also going to come with a 10amp fuse, that's going to go right in the fuse holder here. It's already pre-wired in, set to go, it's got the nice cap for it as well; to protect the fuse once its installed. Next step is going to be to secure any lose wires that you have, with the included cable ties. They include plenty of those so you can get the wires up and out of the way. Makes for an overall safer and cleaner appearance for your installation. You're going to have plenty of wiring right here for the four way flat connector, that way you can extend it out of the back of the vehicle to make your connection, as necessary. It's also going to come with a dust cap for the four way connector, that way you can protect those connection points when the plug's not being used. Now when it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3amps per circuit, and for the tail lights we're looking at 6amps per circuit. Once your installation is complete the four way is going to be stowed in a convenient out of the way location within the rear cargo area. It's also recommended you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections; like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself, that's going to help corrosion from settling in to those connection points. It's going to come with detailed instructions, these are going to walk you through your installation process step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C55369.
