Review of Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring C55317

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C-5-5-3-1-7. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-pole flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit multiple Dodge vehicles, so to see if this is a fit for your vehicle, you can use the vehicle fit guide located right here on our website at eTrailer.com. This is going to provide your 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately.

It does come with a dust cap, that way you can protect the connection points when the plug's not being used. Now one of the main benefits of a system like this is it's designed to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection points behind the rear bumper. There's going to be one located on the driver's side and one located on the passenger side. The connector with the yellow and brown wire goes to the driver's side.

The connector with the green wire goes to the passenger side of the vehicle. Now this is custom fit for your vehicle. The plugs are going to match up perfectly with the harness on the vehicle. They're just going to snap lock together and provide that nice, tight secure fit that we need. Once you have those plugged in, you can go to make your ground connection. That's going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it.

Now all this is going to give you plenty of wiring to work with. I just have it bundled up so I could get it all to fit here on the table. The white wire with the ring terminal, that's going to be your ground wire. That's going to include a self tightening screw, and the hardware kit. Which the hardware is only a self tapping screw and zip ties.

The self tapping screw is designed to easily make that ground connection to the nice clean metal surface. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess wires or slack on the wiring that you may have with the included zip ties. Now once the installation is complete, the 4-way connector can be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. You can loop it around a safety chain loop, or you can use the mounting bracket. Mounting brackets are sold separately, but we do recommend a mounting bracket to keep the connector secure. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself to help prevent corrosion. That's not included, so if you need some of that, you can find that here at eTrailer.com. It is sold separately. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C-5-5-3-1-7.
