Review of Bulldog Gooseneck Trailer Coupler BD1289210300

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Bulldog BX1 Gooseneck Coupler Inner Tube. This sturdy, short inner tube pairs with an existing outer tube to create an adjustable gooseneck coupler. This is designed to work with a 2 and 5/16 inch hitch ball, so if I flip this over, you can see right here, this is a slot of the 2 and 5/16 inch hitch ball. Now, one of the neat features I want to point out about this is that it uses an oversize funnel which makes it easy to guide the ball into the socket so the bottom locking plate is about 50% larger when compared to other brands, and this coupler is designed to engage even if you miss the ball by just over an inch. That is a really, really nice design of the unit. To open it up, you simply rotate the handle, slide the plate over, and move it into an open position. Now you can easily get connected, and then a locked or closed position, move the handle, slide the plate back over, and that's all there is to it.It's really nice and easy to use.

The weight capacity is 25,000 pounds, and the vertical load limit is 7,500 pounds. The tight ball fit really helps to reduce jarring and rattling, and that ball pocket provides contact on both sides of the ball.Nice one-hand operation with the easy to use handle. Right here you'll notice that it is lockable with a pad lock so that way you can secure it in the closed position. Padlock's not included. If you're in need of one, you can find some options here at etrailer.com.

That theft deterrent lock hold diameter is 5/16 of an inch, so I would recommend using a padlock with a shackle diameter of 5/16 of an inch, or even a 1/4 inch shackle diameter would work well.Smooth operation. It does have a grease zerk, so if you ever notice that it gets tough or maybe there's a little bit of resistance, you can simply just add in some grease. You attach a grease gun to that. Pump in the grease. That's going to lubricate those internal components and those moving components, and it's going to make for simple maintenance and smooth operation over time. We're looking at a superior, high-strength steel construction.

Can be primed and painted to match your trailer if desired. The tube right here has an outer width measurement, so from outer edge to outer edge is 4 inches, and that's a square design. So four by four. You'll notice that it does come with a new bolt and lock nut. So new hardware is included to get it attached to an outer tube. And you'll also notice that there's four adjustment holes on the unit, and these holes are separated on center by 2 and 5/8 of an inch, which gives you a range of vertical adjustment, when you use with an outer tube, of right around 8 inches.A few other measurements I want to go over with you real quick.

I took a length measurement from basically the top of this plate right here to the top of the tube. Length is about 22.5 inches, and the overall length measurement, from the bottom of the unit which is equivalent to the top of my table to the top of the tube, is about 24 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Bulldog BX1 Gooseneck Coupler Inner Tube.
