B and W Gooseneck - Below the Bed - BWGNRK1019 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the B&W Turnover Ball Under-bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the custom installation kit, and it has a 30,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab trucks with the five-foot-eight inch short bed. And on a custom fit part like this I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. This is a nice heavy duty under bed hitch that'll let you tow your gooseneck trailer. And with this B&W Turnover Ball Under-bed Hitch, this will get you the best of both worlds. Basically, when you go to tow the turnover ball creates a nice, sturdy, dependable connection for your gooseneck trailer.

Then when you're done towing you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full truck bed access and a nice clean appearance. To do that, all you do to remove the ball from the hitch, pull on your access handle here, twist it to lock it open, pull your ball out, flip it over. There's a little handle on the bottom. Drop it back into the hole, release your handle, and it's locked into place and now you have full truck bed access when you're not towing. Now on the end of this handle there is a five eighths thick spring loaded steel locking pin that'll go all the way through the ball, secures it into place. This access handle is at your rear driver's side wheel well.

Just go ahead and open it, pull the ball back out. Now right here in the hitch itself it uses a single piece machine ball socket, provides rugged durability, and if you look at the ball it uses a square ball base. That prevents the ball from turning in the hitch during hook up. If you notice on the corners, they actually inaudible 00:01:37 the corners off. They call that a corners only fit, and that helps prevent grime build up inside the hitch so when you drop your ball in there it doesn't give you a real tight fit.

With the corners being inaudible 00:01:49 open it'll let that dirt fall through.Right here that also includes a spring loaded safety chain hookup. They're built in.Now, B&W does offer some specially designed accessories that make it easy to customize this hitch to fit your needs. You can tow a fifth wheel trailer with this by using a B&W companion hitch adapter. Basically, what that is that's a fifth wheel hitch that has the post in the middle. So if you want to tow a fifth wheel, you can use that companion.

We do sell that separately on our website. You just drop that into your truck bed, the posts will go in there, lock it into place, and then you can tow a fifth wheel hitch. Now this is a very simple installation with the included custom mounting kit. The mounting kit includes these rails and these side pads right here. No welding is required and the truck bed does not have to be removed to install it. You do need to cut a four inch diameter hole in the truck bed to access this opening, and also four half inch diameter holes for the safety chain hookups. It does include all the mounting hardware you need, a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install it and how it operates. It's all a nice powder coated steel, which is sturdy and corrosion resistant, and it is made in the USA.Specs on this, the gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds. inaudible 00:03:01 weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. The ball size is your standard 2 and 5/16 diameter gooseneck ball. But again, just to go over, we have the handle in the open position so you're ready to tow. Just drop your ball in, and you notice it has holes on all sides so it doesn't matter which way you drop it in. Drop it in, release the handle, again that pin will slide in. Lock it and you're all ready to go. Then if you're done, you want to stow it, open the handle up, flip that ball over, drop it back in, release it, now it's locked in the stowed position. But that should do it for the review on the B&W Turnover Ball Under-bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with the custom installation kit and a 30,000 pound weight capacity.
