Today on this 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 series we are going to be installing the twist-in 7-pole connector part number PK11916. We are at the rear of the vehicle and we are just left of the license plate. Newer Silverados and Sierras have the built in hole for the 7-pole connector right in the bumper. What we have in place right now is a dummy plug so we are going to remove that and plug our connector in line. What we need to do to remove the dummy plug is if you look on the outboard side there is a little tab. Take a flat head screwdriver and press that in and take and turn the dummy plug counter clockwise and then pull it right out. 00:39
Look on the back side and you can see the two package port is already mounted on to the back of the dummy plug so we want to press the tab at the top and we can separate the two. With that removed all we need to do is take the connector and you can see we have got the built in pins on the inside. We are going to take and plug it into our factory tow package and make sure you press it in fully until it clicks where the tabs engage together. With that connected we can slide it back into position. Rotate it and we are going to start off with it at about a 45 degree angle and rotate it into position. That is all there is to it. With the connector mounted that will conclude the installation of the Pollak twist-in 7-pole part number PK11916 on a 2009 GMC Sierra.
