2014 Kia Questions and Answers

  • Is There A Motorcycle Carrier That Will Fit A 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch?
  • Since you have a small trail bike that only weighs 112 lbs, you will be able to use a cargo carrier with your hitch and stay within the tongue weight capacity rating of a Class I trailer hitch for a 2014 Kia Soul. This is my recommendation because there is not a motorcyle carrier for Class I trailer hitches due to their tongue capacity rating. I have a similar trail bike to your Coleman ct200u and suggest using the 20x48 Surco Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs, # 52017....

  • Recommended Roof Rack for a 2014 Kia Soul with Panoramic Sunroof
  • The Rola roof rack # 59789 is best utilized with the 2014 Kia Soul that has no existing rails or crossbars (a naked roof). If your 2014 Kia Soul has existing rails or crossbars, I recommend Thule AeroBlade # THARB47. They are very sturdy, quiet and aerodynamic. The Thule foot pack # TH450R has rubber coated steel clamping straps to provide maximum security and strength. There isn't any confirmed roof racks that work with panoramic sunroofs unless the vehicle has existing raised...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Honda Civic Sedan
  • The Curt Hitch part # C11391 that you referenced would be the correct hitch for your 2015 Honda Civic Sedan. If you were looking for a bike rack to go along with this hitch I would recommend the Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack part # S64670. This is a great rack that has a ton of positive review from our customers who have bought it. Check out the review video I attached.

  • Choosing Between Class II and III Hitch for 2014 Kia Sorento V6
  • If the option is available, we always recommend going with a Class III. A Class III hitch will feature the more common 2 inch receiver opening that has many more compatible accessories available. In the case of your 2014 Sorento, the Class III hitch is actually a few dollars less expensive. The ground clearance for either hitch would be identical. Both hitches have plenty of capacity for your needs, and the Class III actually has a capacity that is higher than the 3500 lb tow rating...

  • Trailer Hitch-Mounted Kayak and Bike Carrier for Use on 2014 Kia Optima
  • We do offer several brands of light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I trailer hitches for your 2014 Kia Optima and all can be seen on the link at right, including the Draw-Tite # 24940. This is the hitch I suggest since it does not require use of a stabilizing strap as some others do. A class I hitch has a tongue weight (downward force) limit of 200-lbs and this translates to it being suitable for use only with 2-bike Class I hitch-mount bike racks. The 2-bike limit applies even if you have a...

  • Recommended Trunk Mount Three Bike Rack for 2014 Kia Soul
  • The Thule Raceway you mentioned is my preferred recommendation for a trunk mount bike rack, because it's so easy to install and remove. Since that rack would blow your budget out of the water, the Thule Archway which is available in a two bike # TH9009XT or three bike # TH9010XT model would be my second (but still very good) choice. The Archway uses Thule's upgraded padded cradles for the ultimate in bike protection. The included security strap can be closed in the hatch securing the...

  • Why Won't My 1-1/4 inch Ball Mount Slide Into a Class I Hitch
  • It sounds like you have a Class I hitch and are trying to use a Class II drawbar with it. Class I hitches are designed to do exactly what you are trying to do, prevent the use of a Class II accessory by not letting the holes line up. This is to prevent overloading the hitch. I attached an FAQ on hitch classifications for you to check out also. The correct ball mount to use with your Draw Tite Hitch part # 24915 would be the Sportframe Draw Bar part # 3593.

  • Visibility of Trailer Hitch Installed on 2014 Kia Soul
  • We do indeed have a photo provided from Curt showing their # C11419 installed on a second-generation Kia Soul. As you can see, the only portion of the hitch that's visible from eye level at the rear of the vehicle is the receiver opening, almost all of the crossbar is concealed by the bumper. Draw-Tite has # 24915 which would also be largely concealed behind the bumper. Both hitches have the same weight rating, and would install in the same manner. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite.

  • What is the Weight Capacity of a 2014 Kia Sorento Factory Roof Rack
  • I checked the owners manual for a 2014 Kia Sorento and it indicates that the roof rack capacity is 220 pounds, evenly distributed. You will want to double check your owners manual just to be on the safe side. If you do not have crossbars then you can add some. It does sound like you at least have the side rails that run front to back. I have included links to the roof rack crossbars that will fit. It appears that for 2014 Sorentos there are raised side rails and flush side rails. the...

  • Will My Existing Saris Bone Bike Rack Fit a 2014 Kia Sportage
  • I have some good news, and some not so good news for you. The good news is that we do have several bike racks that are confirmed as a fit for the 2014 Kia Sportage. The not so good news is, that I have spoken with my contacts at Saris, and the Bones 3 Bike Rack # SA801 is not confirmed as a fit for the 2014 Kia Sportage. My contact explained that mounting position for the top most straps that the Bones uses to attach to the rear hatch are not properly supported for this carrier. The...

  • Installing a K-Source Vision Backup Camera on a 2014 Kia Soul
  • Installing the K-Source system is generally the same from vehicle to vehicle in that you need to install the mirror, run wiring to the rear of the vehicle and install the camera and video connections. However, the amount of work that is needed to install the kit on each vehicle will be different. Interior body panels will have to be removed, wiring will be cut and spliced in the vehicle's wiring, and you may have to modify or cut exterior body parts to install the camera. The manufacturer...

  • Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Kia Sorento EX
  • At this time there are no brake controller wiring harnesses for the 2014 Kia Sorento. To install a brake controller you would need to hardwire it in. If you can tell me if the vehicle has a factory 7-Way, aftermarket 7-Way or 4-Way, or no trailer connector, I can explain exactly what you will need and how to install the controller. If it has a factory 7-Way you will just need installation kit # 5506 for trailers with 6 to 8 brakes. You will attach the included circuit breaker under the...

  • Trailer Lights Not Working After Install Wiring Harness on a 2014 Kia Sorento
  • To determine if the problem is with the vehicle or the trailer, first disconnect the trailer from the vehicle. Then use a circuit tester like # 3808 or the one that came with # 119147KIT. Test the pins on the 4-Way using the circuit tester while someone sites in the vehicle and runs through the functions. If all the signals are correct on the 4-Way when you test it then the issue is on the trailer. But if the signals are not correct then there is a problem with either the wiring harness,...

  • Can Rollator Walkers be Carried on a Trunk Mount Bike Rack on a 2014 Kia Soul
  • If your Rollators can fold up relatively flat then they could be placed on a trunk mount bike rack on your 2014 Kia Soul. I recommend going with a model that is designed to carry up to 3 bikes because there will be more space. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2-3 because it will work with or without that little spoiler piece at the top of the hatch on the Kia Soul. Keep in mind that trunk mount racks are not tested for use with Rollators. The other option is to...

  • I spoke with my Rola representative, who was able to confirm that the # 59784 is indeed compatible with the 2014 KIA Sorento with the panoramic sunroof. Although he did not have any specific information about being able to open the sunroof on that particular model, he told me that typically aftermarket roof racks WILL interfere with the ability of the panoramic sunroofs to open.

  • Powered Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Kia Sorento
  • All of the 4-pole trailer wiring harness kits we offer for the 2014 Kia Sorento, shown on the linked page, are the powered converter type. This means that a secondary 12V power connection for the harness is made directly to the vehicle battery, which provides the actual power to illuminate the trailer lights. This harness type does isolate the car's wiring from any potential faults or shorts on the trailer. The specific powered harness you need depends on how the car was equipped from...

  • Roof Rack Recommendations for a 2014 Kia Sportage
  • For your 2014 Kia Sportage we have just what you would need. The roof racks we offer will cost much less than the Kia rack and will work just as well. Now if you have a totally naked roof you would want the Rhino Rack part numbers # DS126B and # DK259 to complete a custom fit rack that is easy on the wallet. If instead you have flush mounted roof rack rails on the roof of the vehicle you would instead want the Rhino Rack part numbers # RRVA126B-2 and # RRSX023.

  • What is the Towing Capacity of a 2014 Kia Forte
  • The 2014 Kia Forte does not have a towing capacity. The owners manual states not to tow a trailer with this vehicle. A trailer hitch should only be used for accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier for this vehicle. Trailer hitches are still offered for this reason and because there is a demand. If this was the only vehicle someone had and they needed to tow a trailer they would have to speak with a Kia technician to determine if it is possible at all to tow.

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for 2014 Kia Soul with Flush Rails
  • Take a look at the picture I attached. It shows the roof of a 2014 Kia Soul with a "flush rail" setup. Most likely this is what you have since this is the most popular configuration and it seemingly matches your description. The roof rack you see in the picture is the Thule Aeroblade Edge kit part numbers # TH7602-TH7602 and # THKIT4051. This would be a fantastic option that we would recommend highly. It will be very stable and provide proved minimal wind noise.

  • The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13152, that you mentioned is the correct hitch for your 2014 Kia Sorento SX. At this time, there are two wiring harnesses that have been confirmed to work with your Sorento SX. If your Sorento came with a factory tow package, then you can use the T-One Wiring Harness, # 118269. • Tire Chain Recommendation for Use on 2014 Kia Sorento With 235/60-18 Size Tires
  • Generally an AWD vehicle will do best if chains are installed on all tires. Obviously this will help with traction but also with steering and braking performance. This is subject to approval by the auto maker and your manual or local dealership should be consulted. The link at right will let you see all tire chains that will fit your 235/60-18 size tires. These include both S-Class-compatible and other chains that may not be suitable on your particular vehicle. A good example of a cost-effective...

  • Roof Rack And Bike Carrier For 2014 Kia Soul With Fixed Mounting Points
  • We do have a roof rack system that will work for your 2014 Kia Soul. The Rola Sport Series Roof Rack, part # 59789 is designed to use the 4 mounting locations you mentioned on your Soul roof. These crossbars have an oval aerodynamic design which cuts down on wind noise and they also feature T-slots which allow you to use a variety of accessories on your roof. I have included the installation instructions for this roof rack you can check out. If you do not have a bike carrier for your...

  • How to Carry Two Kayaks on a 2014 Kia Sorento LX
  • The Rola Sport Series Roof Rack, # 59784, is the recommended roof rack for your 2014 Kia Sorento LX with the flush mount factory side rails. The crossbars that come with this kit are 47-1/4 inches long, which should accommodate 2 kayaks easily with the right carriers. The kayaks may not fit if you just lay them down side by side on the crossbars, so I recommend using a 2-kayak carrier like the Inno 2 Kayak Carrier, # INA450. This carrier will hold the kayaks on their side and it is...

  • Can a SportRack Hitch Lock be Used with a Bell Bike Rack
  • Bike rack manufacturers use unique threads on hitch bolts and locks so that they are only compatible with their bike racks. There are one or two exceptions but there is no way to know for sure without testing the parts together. The best solution if Bell does not have a lock for your bike rack is to use a cable lock such as # CAB-10. I have linked a video review of this lock for you.

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation to Carry a Trek Pure Crank Forward Step Through Bike
  • I spoke to my contact at Swagman and while she couldn't tell me how low the hook arm of the Swagman XTC-2 bike rack part # S64670 would go she assured me that it would go low enough to attach to your Trek Pure Crank Forward with a step through frame. Review video attached. Some people with step trough frames will also use frame adapter bars like the Swagman Adapter bar part # 64005 to provide a higher attachment point for the bike rack. I attached a review video for this product as well.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2014 Kia Forte
  • The owner's manual for your 2014 Kia Forte EX only states that they do not recommend towing a trailer. It doesn't say you can't but it also doesn't give any capacity information. But given that the weight of your trailer is all of 400 to 500 pounds even your small car would be fine towing it. With Curt trailer hitch # C11368 installed the top of the receiver opening will be about 1 inch or so below the bottom of the rear fascia. Measure up from the ground to a point about 1 inch below...

  • Roof Rack Options to Carry Surfboard with 2014 Kia Soul
  • Thule does indeed have a confirmed fit for the 2014 Kia Soul with the flush mounted roof rails, but they're only compatible with models that DO NOT have the panoramic sunroof. You can choose from an AeroBlade rack that's more aerodynamic or a square bar rack that's a bit less expensive. For the square bar rack, you'd need the following parts: 50 Inch Square Load Bars, part # THLB50 Podium Foot Pack, part # TH460 Vehicle Specific Fit Kit, part # THKIT4051 If you'd prefer the AeroBlade...

I believe this light will work with your bumper without having to cut out a hole in the back of the bumper. When the light is mounted in the grommet, portion of the light that extends past the wall of the bumper will only be 1-11/32 inches. You should have no problem installing this in your 2 inch x 4 inch bumper.

  • According to Yakima, the LoadWarrior Cargo Basket, # Y07070, and the LoadWarrior Extension, # Y07074, will fit the factory crossbars of your 2014 Kia Sorento SX. Before loading any cargo on the roof of your Sorento, I recommend checking your owners manual to verify the weight capacity of your roof. The weight of the basket and cargo must remain under the vehicle roof weight capacity. Another item you may be interested in is the Yakima Stretch Net, # Y07072, to hold down any loose cargo....
