Fit of Thule Raceway 2 # TH9001PRO and Raceway 3 # TH9002PRO Trunk-Mount Racks on 2014 Acura MDX

Will Thule 9002PRO fits on Acura MDX 14? I was reading the rear mount fit pdf for 9002PRO. I notice the 9002PRO is not checked for Acura MDX 14 but 9001XT is. I wonder what is the difference between 9002PRO and 9001XT besides 9002PRO is for three bikes, and 9001XT is for two bikes. Shouldnt the fitting part that mount to the trunk is the same for both? If the 9001XT fits Acura MDX 14, shouldnt 9002PRO fit as well? Thanks for your help.

The Thule Raceway 2 # TH9001PRO trunk-mount bike rack is indeed a recommended fit for your 2014 Acura MDX. The similar Raceway 3 rack, part # TH9002PRO, will mount in the same way as you suggest but this larger carrier is not recommended for your vehicle due to the weight load placed on the car's sheet metal. The Raceway racks are built with heavy-duty materials to enable them to last a long time, but this also means higher weight. Thule's engineers consider that the weight of a loaded Raceway 3-bike trunk rack could distort or damage the vehicle's sheet metal.

Other bike rack manufacturers, Yakima and Hollywood Racks, do offer lighter-weight racks, including 3-bike units, that are considered suitable for your MDX. The link provided to the right will let you see all recommended 3-bike carriers suited to your MDX.
