No Brake Light Function on 6-Way Round Trailer Connector on Chevy Motor Home

Question:

I have a chevy motor home and all my lights work fine it has a 6 way round plug for a trailer my trailer has a flat 4 way plug all the lights work fine on the trailer I have the adapter but when i hook up the brake lights dont work on my trailer when i use a test light at the 6 way i do not get a light for the brakes on the turn light prongs

It sounds like there is a blown stop light fuse on the Chevy motor home. Use the owners manual or the legends on the power distribution box lid/in-cab fuse panel to locate any and all tow package wiring fuses so you can check them.

If that is not the problem it is possible that the 6-Way on the motor home has separate brake light and turn signal circuits. You would need to test the other pins to determine if any of them carry a brake light signal.

If there are separate circuits for turn signals and brake lights you can use a converter, # RM-732, and install it ahead of the vehicle side connector. The yellow wire is the left turn signal wire, green is right turn signal, and red is brake lights. On the output side, yellow will be left turn and brake lights and green will be right turn and brake lights. The white wire will ground to the vehicle frame.
