The 4-pole trailer wiring harness you referenced, part # 118450 from TowReady, is the correct plug-and-play harness for the 2009 Traverse that does not have a factory 7-way socket. In addition to this you will need a 7-way. You can use part # 37185 from Hopkins; the 4-pole flat connector from the harness will plug directly into the Hopkins 7-way, which includes a mounting bracket. The 7-way will then carry the lighting signals from the vehicle.
If the trailer has electric brakes instead of the Hopkins you'll use part # ETBC7 along with the 4-pole harness. This is a brake controller installation kit. The vehicle will also need a trailer brake controller such as the Prodigy P2 # 90885.
I have linked several articles and videos to assist you.
