Hey Walter, happy to help with this

We’ll need a few key measurements to make sure the new axles fit your trailer correctly.

The two most important measurements are:

Hub face to hub face, that's the measuring the very end of one hub to the other

Spring center to spring center, that's the distance between where the leaf springs mount

We’ll also want to confirm:

Bolt pattern
Whether you need idler axles or brake axles

For reference, standard 3,500 lb axles typically use L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearings with a 5-lug hub pattern, but the dimensions must match your trailer exactly.

Once you can provide those measurements or a photo of your current axle tag if available, I can narrow down the correct replacements for you.

Looking forward to helping you get set up!

Hi James, Year: 2004 Make: King Type Boat trailer, hot dipped galvanized steel Number of Axles: 2 I haven't gotten all the measurements you asked for, but I did find a tag on the trailer axle that states "Tie Down Engineering 2742922 Max Cap 3,500lb" Axles are torsion type, no springs The outside frame measurement is 78" Frame is 3 inches wide square tube. Wheels are 5 lug

@WalterR thanks for providing that information. Because you have a torsion axle, that does change from a direct swap but you can convert to a leaf spring axle. You’ll need to add a full suspension system; springs, hangers, and hardware and have the hangers welded to the frame. The most important part is getting accurate measurements so the new axles line up correctly. You'll want the accurate Hub face measurement and current axle spacing. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi James, I would like to stay with torsion axles and NOT swap to springs. Was the tag (Tie Down Engineering 2742922 Max Cap 3,500lb) that I found on the trailer axle helpful to you for identifying a replacement axles? What exactly is the Hub face measurement? Best, -Walt

@WalterR I apologize Walter, we wouldn't have a direct replacement option for the Tie Down Torsion axles. Take a look at the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension w Electric Brakes # A35RS545E Hub Face measurement is going to be the distance from the back of one brake but to the back of the back of the opposite brake hub.
