To determine if the Carpod # M2200-01-02 Cargo Carrier will fit in your 2012 Acura MDX, you'll need to measure the distance between the hitch pin hole and the receiver and the rear-most portion of the back bumper. If this distance is less than 4 inches, the Carpod carrier would work great.
When we installed hitches on a 2012 MDX, we found that the Curt # 13354 had 3-1/2 inches of clearance, while the Draw-Tite # 75614 had 3-3/4 inches of clearance. Personally, I'd like to see at least 1 inch of wiggle room.
Using a cargo carrier like the Curt # C18151 and the # 988501 Extra Large Cargo bag would be half the cost and would offer 9 inches of clearance between the cargo carrier and the receiver hitch pin hole, which would be more than enough for a great fit. This is the solution I'd recommend.
I've linked you to an install video featuring the Curt cargo carrier I recommended.
