Electric Trailer Brakes Not Working on Tandem Axle Trailer Pulled by 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

I have a 2004 Haulamark trailer, tandem axle trailer with brakes on both axles. Im using a 2013 Dodge 3500 to pull it and when the trailer is connected to the truck, truck said that the trailer is not connected and then it says that there is a short circuit in the brakes. It has been hooked to another truck and the same thing. We have replaced the pig tail into the junction box. Everything else works except the brakes. When the trailer is first connected to the truck, I can hear a bit of a constant clicking sound from the right front axle brake. What could the problem be? A bad magnet? Or something else? And how can the whole system and magnets be tested? Any help is appreciated.

Since your tow vehicle is new and since the problem has followed the trailer to another tow vehicle it would seem that the issue is on the trailer side. Since you have already replaced the trailer's 7-way connector (joining it to the trailer wiring at your junction box) most likely the problem is either in the wiring between from the box and the brake assemblies or at the brake assembly itself.

Trace your brake circuit wiring from the junction box all the way to the brake assemblies. Look for any cracks, nicks or worn spots in the brake wire's insulation. Repair or replace as needed. Pay particular attention to parts of the wire that are routed around rough edges of the trailer's frame. Be sure it is well away from moving suspension components. Also make sure the ground is solidly affixed to a clean bare metal surface on the trailer frame.

If there is no issue with the wiring to the brakes you can use the methods shown in the linked article to test the brake assemblies and the magnets themselves. If nothing wrong is found on the trailer then I suggest careful inspection of the vehicle-side trailer connector to ensure that the contact pin for the brake circuit is not bent, dirty or corroded.
